AFE's Twisted Steel headers on a VQ37 car
So I came across these wandering the internet, and they reminded me a lot of Z1 shorty offereings. I can get an extremely good deal on AFE parts, brand new, so my real loss would be skin on my knuckles if it didn't work.
If you use the Z1 formula of adapting the flange to the catback with a VQ35DE test pipe or HFC, is there any reason these headers will not work on a VQ37VHR 370Z or G37? I know there are lots of decent header options out there, but another available choice is always a good thing, especially when it's affordably priced and made in the USA by a reputable company. https://img.nasioc.com/i/eqgLw.png https://img.nasioc.com/i/eq9YO.png Info at home page: https://afepower.com/afe-power-48-36...-steel-headers |
I've spoken with AFE, and their stance is that they're willing to let me test the parts as a guinea pig and return them if it doesn't work. Basically their exhaust tech says that my idea is feasible, but can only confirm with a real test fit to a car. Layout would be:
[VQ37 Engine]--> [03-06 VQ35 350Z AFE Header]-->[03-06 VQ35 350Z AFE Cat pipe]-->[G37 Coupe AFE Cat-back] Can any of you think of something that I could be missing before trying it for real? My main concerns are clearance to the steering coupler, and mating the 350Z cat pipe to the G37/370Z cat-back. |
sounds like a cool experiment. Good luck!
