So from reading this and a couple of other threads, this looks like a fairly straightforward DIY...would you guys concur? Did you guys just put the car on jackstands and just crept around during the install? I'm considering getting a HFC along with a Invidia Gemini exhaust. Trying to determine if installing a HFC and CBE is something I can do with just jackstands. Car is 3 weeks old, so the bolts should come off easily, just not sure if there's enough room to maneuver all the piping while taking down the stock and installing the new with only about 12-16" of ground clearance to work with.

There are one bolt on each side of cat that are EXTREMELY difficult to remove. Due the the accessibility and how Nissan decided to torture 370z owners who wish to pollute the environment a bit more than it is necessary.
(I haven't done my install yet but that's the info i got from reading HFC DIY) |

Some guys aren't so lucky though and have to torch/cut the bolts off. Just soak those puppies in PB Blaster the night before and hope for the best. You'll have plenty of room with jack stands. We actually did the second install with just the front on ramps. |

They had to use the torch on my driver's side bolt. Other than that, install went fine. Took more than an hour though because of that one damn bolt. I did get an SES light today though (had them installed yesterday)... P2A03... I cleared it with my OBDII scanner, and I'll see if it pops up again. Hopefully it was just a fluke, but we will see. I guess that code has to do with one of the primary a/f sensors. AFAIK, the battery was never disconnected. If it pops up again, I'll try that. |

[QUOTE=efuseakay;496568]Yes... as my guy says, "They come pre-stripped from the factory!"... lol Even on my 2010 G37xS sedan that I picked up 2 weeks ago. heh
First G37 installed so far let your buddies at myg37.com know about this . |
Yup they know! I did have a P2A03 code pop up today. I did clear it so we will see if it comes back. If it does there may be a leak at one of the header flanges from the install. I'll update after I put some more miles on the car and break them in so the rasp quiets down a bit.
Other than the code, so far so good! |
