Test pipes...How loud?
Recently I've found myself wanting to do a cat delete and install some nice test pipes. One of the only things holding me back from doing so is being worried about how loud or droned out it will sound. The guy who had the car before me had a cat-back done on it, however i'm not sure what brand it is (haven't looked lol.) Ill post the pic below. It looks like a pretty restrictive exhaust with smaller mufflers or something similar right about the other ones. As of now its pretty quiet but sounds nice when I get on it. Would a cat delete make it annoying as a daily driver?

Yes. Consider ART pipes. I have an Invidia CBE and ART pipes on my 350z and it is very quiet.

+1 The Motordyne ART pipes are something to consider they have a unique deep tone to them without being too loud with no rasp. Depends though because some Z enthusiasts like the loud volume of the test pipes and some don’t like test pipes and think they are too loud. You should hear someone’s Z in person how has test pipes or you can hear sound clips online like on YouTube and make your decision from there as exhaust is so subjective on this forum and seems like everyone likes something different. Also you say you have a catback exhaust that will play a role on how loud your exhaust note is. I ran the AAM test pipes before they are the only test pipes I recommend and yes they are quite loud!

After installing the AAM 2.5” test pipes I gained +10 whp on the dyno not bad at all from just a simple bolt on exhaust modification.

it will definitely make it sound aggressive especially louder if you have an axle back or aftermarket exhaust
but prepare for the service engine soon light to pop up if you don't get a tune. you will hear some hissing and possibly rattling from the test pipes |
