2014 up Z with CEL on MD ART pipes

1 Attachment(s)
Curious if anyone would know if switching from MD ART (causing a CEL) to Berk High Flow cats would still cause a CEL as I know the 2014 and up models have more sensitive O2 readings. Any help?

I am pretty sure a cel is still possible with hfc.
I think it's a hit or miss situation

I run the Berk HFCs on my '14 Nismo. No CEL, made sure the exhaust to manifold seal was not leaking. Try the Permatex® High-Temp Red RTV Silicone Gasket Maker if you are thinking about going this route. I also swapped the secondary O2 sensors for new ones about 18 months ago. One of them was going out, or getting lazy about registering values to the ECU.

Best of luck.

How many miles did your Z have when the sensors went? Only jabe about 35k miles so maybe a wrong assumption, but I think my 02 sensors should still be good?

That's what I'm worried about. Also curious is something like fabspeed catted O2 anti foulers would work

What other mods do you have?

Stillen Gen 3 Cai, Motordyne CB exhaust, Ecutek tune

The Ecutek tuner should have the capability through the software to workout the CEL.

Main reason why I have put off my ART pipe install. Saving for the tune so I don't have to have the ECU creating a CEL for AFR.

Completely false. I was under the same assumption but was told by Seb at specialty Z that a tune cannot help pass emissions. It can turn the sensors off so you don't get a CEL, but the emissions testing center will see that and fail it. Ask me how I know...

I don't think he was saying you can fake emissions... Just that you can turn off the light/DTC

So I just installed my ART pipes last weekend, I only got a CEL on the one side, that’s making me think that it’s either leaking that side or less likely the sensor. So this weekend I’m going to see if I can find a leak (it would only be between the manifold and the front of the ART pipe). Also I might switch the sensors to see if the CEL goes to the other side, I’m doubting that is the issue because I was very careful when unplugging them but it’s an easy check.

Sorry just realized your post is for 2014 and up but mine is a 2013. Although I don’t think it would really matter. I did look up the DTC through a database from work, and the “Possible Issues” are O2 sensors, wiring, connectors, exhaust leak or PCM. Betting that it is a leak or possibly part of the sensor(s).

Sensors - Swapped out at 70k miles

I swapped my original secondary O2 sensors at 75k-80k miles. The one on the drivers side was just not reading right. It had been this way for a year or more. Very slow to read low to high on my torque OBD2 app. The passenger side O2 sensor read fine, but I change these sensors in pairs. I got them on Amazon, the same ones as Nissan would happily gouge you for them. Last time I checked Nissan wanted double this amount.

The original primary O2 sensors are still on the car. I do not use any of the quick fix anti fouler or other interesting attachments. They are mounted right into the Berk HFCs directly sensing the exhaust flow.
