Ex Fast Intentions users??

Just curious if anyone here has switched from their Fast Intentions CBE and what other CBE you switched to and your thoughts? Love my FI CBE but wondering if there’s anything else out there that sounds just as good but not obnoxious or raspy and want some feedback from people that have had the same exhaust as me.

I have Art Pipes and Stillen Gen 3 intakes as well in case people wanted to know what my setup was.

danegrey 08-16-2018 05:56 PM

I always get comments with my FI, all depends with having to run at events with noise restrictions, my FI is 18" resonators / Stillen Gen 3 / Z1 Headers and test pipes also resonated

The rasp/hiss isn't from the CBE. It's the cats. I've got the ART pipes also and hisses on decel, but that's just part of it. Some people have it even with HFC. The only way to get rid of the rasp is put the stock cats back on. Again, nothing to do with the FI CBE.

if it's raspy/obnoxious what is your FI setup?

and honestly i am trying but i cant think of anyone i've talked to that ever switched back to anything else after having FI lol

Spooler 08-17-2018 09:43 AM

I would suggest getting F.I. long tube headers. If you do that, you will want resonators in the exhaust. The best sounding exhaust I ever heard was a F.I. CB with 18" resonators, carbon fiber mufflers, and F.I. Long tube headers.

oooooooooor if you want all the rasp and obnoxiousness.......you can go with the FI system completely straight piped like me :tiphat:

cooltoy 08-17-2018 09:59 AM

One person did switch, but he is then only one here that I have heard of.

I think he had "Old Man" disease. He is on here some where.

Sounds right. I knew it was a user name with "Old" in it.

LOL, it was barncobob. Different strokes for different folks. I do not have any resonators and I do get some drone at around 70mph, I never drive at that speed though. LOL

barncobob 08-17-2018 12:19 PM

my stock Nismo exhaust is just fine with me, i can actually converse with someone at anything over 2800 rpm..i quit bashing FI, you young guys will figure it out when you cant hear.

barncobob 08-17-2018 03:23 PM

impressive, your parents should be so proud..theyre right upstairs, leave your basement penthouse and say hello..

ZontheRocks 08-17-2018 03:26 PM

One of the track guys on the forum (red Nismo with carbon brake vents) switched from FI to Motordyne. He seemed to enjoy the switch.

I was eying the FI website for a long time, but the sound of the Shockwave was more to my liking. Price and availability seem to be the main factors in determining which exhaust is purchased for this platform.

I have a hearing loss. It's not from loud exhaust. It's from gas and steam turbine whine. So I can't hear that much anyway. :rofl2:

I do have the FI LTH's, 12" resonators, and FI CBE.

I needed my FI exhaust because I can't hear. LOL I don't like drone just like the next guy but I drive around it.

Mine was from loud music. Excuse me while I yell. IT WAS SELF INFLICTED
BACK IN MY TEENAGE YEARS WITH CUSTOM CAR STEREO'S.

With my stock Nismo exhaust I constantly stalled the car with the radio on at traffic lights.

I feel you there. Ive been trying to trade someone with a Motordyne for my Fast Intentions but no takers yet. I do agree the Motordyne sounds much nicer (and higher off the ground) lol

Is the hissing heard in the video the actual exhaust hiss? That’s pretty loud if it is.

Think that's road noise from where I have the mike located.

I can talk to my wife just fine with 18" resonators on my FI. And all that CF goodness to boot.

barncobob 08-18-2018 06:30 AM

another happy FI guy has his for sale in the classified section..

axmea? 08-18-2018 08:10 AM

My iggy list works ladies and gentlemen.

Once you commit to FI there's little to no gain by switching. Motordyne is by my area. I drove further because of FIs superior service and craftsmanship. Spend the $ on some other mods.

Reading is not your best skill. The person selling that exhaust wants to get a motordyne, which is different then trying to get a quieter exhaust like you. 99.999% if the people selling their FI exhaust are either selling their cars or want to change to a louder exhaust.

Ah, Ron White is correct

cooltoy 08-18-2018 04:10 PM

I agree, but there is no need to insult yourself. I am pretty sure you are not stupid .

insideabox 08-18-2018 06:23 PM

Sorry for the confusion guys, I wasn’t saying the rasp was from the FI exhaust, I know the hiss is from the Art Pipes only lol. I may go with the entire setup like someone mentioned if that really does get rid of any rasp!

Thanks for the feedback guys, I did my research before buying the FI CBE a couple of years ago and was just curious if there was anything new and better on the market! I know FI was in the process of making new muffler tips that are supposed to be 20% louder so maybe I’ll just get that whenever it’s for sale.

Good to know most people don’t switch from FI, makes me even more certain I made the right choice.

RN SHARK 08-18-2018 09:51 PM

I have the exact same setup as Rusty. F.I. LTH and 12” res CBE. I feel like it is ok, until I get to the track and there it seems quiet compared to many other vehicles. I was wondering what a single exit titanium setup like Tomei might sound like, keeping the same long tube headers. It would help with adding a real rear diffuser too.
Or not, as I just realized Tomei has issues with the Velox diffuser too.

You don't want it too loud. Because it might get you kicked off of the track.

JamesTheBrain 08-20-2018 07:58 AM

I began my order and cancelled it. I'm with tomei now and I'm so happy I didn't go with FI. they are way too quiet.

depends on the setup.

my FI is just as loud as Tomei if not louder just with a better tone. Tomei is too high pitched/ricey for my taste. thats why i stuck with FI, just personal choice.

Agreed! I am going to straight pipe mines so I can attach a rear diffuser. I'm guessing she is gonna a sing like the fat lady at the opera!

I tell every Z guy with turbos that straight pipe is the way to go. the turbos are basically mufflers already so why add more? lol plus, you cant go wrong with any combo of FI products.

makes me excited to go 4" straight pipe on the GT-R :stirthepot:
