2015+ exhaust manifold vs older

So I just heard that the 2015+ exhaust manifolds are different than previous years. Anyone seen this or have pics?

Why would they change them. The Z hasn't changed in 10 years. LOL

Jhill 07-14-2018 05:39 PM

That’s what I thought too but someone was saying the 2015+ have a different design at the collector (more like the z1 with a 3-1 with individual ports). Not sure if they are mistaken.

What's their source on that? If they don't have one then...

Just letting who might be searching for this in the future; the 2015s do have a better exhaust manifold design. They actually don’t bolt up to the older engines because the studs are in a different location (the older heads don’t have 4 stud spots)
The pipes flow smoother and it’s more than likely that this causes the newer cars to dyno slightly higher.

thats quite interesting, nissan actually snuck in improvements without sayin nothin?

Any 370z OEM exhaust manifold improvement should have included a turbo.

So anyone building a motor has to watch out if they are using different heads and exhaust manifolds.

Wonder if the FI makers know this.

Many cars 2015 or greater have had Fast Intentions TT kits installed.
Doesn't appear to be an issue with their kit.

The good thing about the 2015 and newer cars is that they are also compatible with the older headers, just have to move the studs around. Unfortunately the older ones don’t have the heads drilled in all 4 possible spots.

So the newer heads have both sets of holes already drilled and tapped then.

Do you have any pictures?

So it sounds like the heads have an addition stud? So in theory one could mount the new ones and use the flange as a template to drill and tap their own holes and add studs?

Or other thought is the extra stud even needed? Haven’t heard of the old style being plagued by exhaust leaks before so not sure why they have another stud, maybe not even needed?

Pics of old vw new would be good if anyone has them, also pics of the supposedly better collector.
