Holy crap look at that ZX engine bay hahaha bet there's no room to slide an A4 paper in there

vipor 12-21-2009 08:10 AM

haha i always hated helping my friend with his 91 Z for just that reason. even working on the top is a PITA

Are you kidding? There is lots of room once you remove the air intakes and strut bar. Don't think it will be easy; but it's do-able and it will be easier with two people; one under the Z and one over the engine bay.

I figure about 6 hours work with lots of Timmie coffee breaks and afternoon venison BBQ

disclaimer: I have the proper tools, lift and experience

Myself...

Probably do not have proper tools (I have a 300+ piece toolkit from Sears, but no specialty tools), no lift, and I've never done headers before.

But it's not rocket science.

Go for it... cant be any worse then shearing off a cat bolt in the header pipe. Yes I did that...lol

i think you missed my point.

i was saying the 370z is a piece of cake to work on compared to my twin turbo 300zx.

working on a ZX is all by feel. one rarely sees the bolts one is trying to get at.
once you get rid of the octopus sitting on top of the engine it's a little easier.

Oh, shearing off a header to head bolt would probably be pretty close.

Kastley85891 12-21-2009 12:20 PM

^ yes - stuff of nightmares, but got to go for it or pay some one else to **** it up... ;-)

G37Sam 12-21-2009 04:43 PM

Nothing beats the feeling of banged up knuckles once you're done haha

Kastley85891 12-21-2009 04:48 PM

^ dude my hands looked like I had fended of a rabid cat

kdo2milger 12-21-2009 04:52 PM

mechanix gloves from one of the many auto parts stores for around 10 to 15 bucks will save those knuckles ;)

But those eliminate the fun haha and besides you sometimes need to feel bolts and use your fingers, those would eliminate that factor too to an extent
