How hard is the installation on these? I have done tranny swaps and other things. I know headers on LS1's where crazy hard to install. So I did some browsing but never really saw to much about it.

Thanks

If you want to do a self-install on these, it really depends on your experience level, the tools you have available, the friends you have available, etc. I don't think anyone would call it easy. For reference I think the standard shop hours quote for swapping out the stock manifolds on our cars is ~7hrs.

I did it with two friends and it took us two days (there was some beer drinking the night between). We had a lift to work on as well, I really wouldn't recommend attempting the headers without a lift, or at least some kind of plan to get the car a few feet up in the air for easier underside access.

The major break-your-will PITA part of doing headers on our cars is reaching the 6 nuts on each side that hold the manifolds on, especially the driver's side. They're way up in there, and there's a lot of blockage in the way. Bring plenty of socket drive extensions, swivel joints, etc (preferably in 3/8, a little easier to reach into there with skinnier stuff). Plan to spend a fair amount of time scratching your head and trying to dream up new creative paths to reach the bolts from different angles. Then you've gotta get those same 12 nuts torqued back down properly afterwards too.

Thanks alot, my buddy has a lift in his garage in Ohio and he was an auto tech major at SIUC. He now is the head up for some part of Honda, his Dad built all the Indy sprint motors for the series at one time. I will prolly just sit back and drink and let them get some father son time LOL

When I had my car on the lift at Fast Intentions they had to remove the steering linkage to get the Drivers Side in. If you do that yourself make sure to make marks BEFORE removing it so when you reinstall it, that it's aligned properly.

I wonder how many people have gotten a CEL after installing these? I had mine on for about 1,500 miles then it popped up.

I just completed the install by myself in my garage. It is extremely difficult. Like Wstar states, You need many different exts, swivels, ratchets, and not to mention patience.

I have 50 miles on mine now. No cell.

Heres the before and after dyno.

Before = FI exhaust only
After = FI exhaust, Stillen G3s, FI LTH (no tune yet)

I have a video as well. It should be up soon.

XwChriswX 05-20-2011 10:26 PM

You have a 6mt right? What gear did they do the dynos in?

ClemsonWill 05-21-2011 06:09 AM

Yeah, 6mt. 4th gear pulls. I did some 3rd gear pulls with the first dyno. Lost about 5 hp.
