DNA Motoring Exhaust- after a month's use

Where to begin, oh yea... the damn burnt tips aren't really "burnt" anymore are they? LOL. Did I really expect them to? I guess not, considering the fact that I ordered this exhaust off Amazon. and it was about 4 hondos.
I'm not complaining. This isn't a rant. Before buying this exhaust, I had done my research plenty. Did I cheap out? well yea. In all seriousness though, this exhaust sounds good for what you pay for. 4 hondos roughly gets you an aftermarket exhaust that gives you a louder stock sound. A pet peeve I have with the exhaust is that it has that "v6" drone sound coming off a 97 Mustang or Camaro roughly around the 1k-2400RPM range. You know, that "Hey man, your Mustang isn't a v8!" sound, taking off from red lights. Other than that, the higher RPM's really bring out the sexy VQ sound these cars are known for. I would even compare the sound to a simple muffler delete judging off YouTube videos. Anyway, my point is that I wanted to post some pictures of this exhaust that's been on my 11' for about a month now. REALLY disappointed in the burnt tip wearing off like it has. But hey, I got what I paid for right? There wasn't enough "reviews" or information on this exhaust so I decided to post something on it being that it is 2017 and stuff. Anyways, hope this isn't pointless and gives off some information to someone who's considering buying it. Do I regret buying it? honestly no, it's a nice sounding exhaust. It's no Fast Intentions or ARK exhaust that's for sure. Yes, these pictures were taken just now 9/9/17 just about 30 days after being on (installed August 5th 2017). Let me know what you guys think! LOL |
Yikes, those tips did not stand a chance. It's almost like they painted it on and the heat destroyed it. Fitment looks pretty good though.
I'm glad I decided against this exhaust though. I don't think it would last for one winter where I'm from. You seem to be happy with it for the price, so you can't go wrong with that. |

An opportunity to :postwhore: in the Tech Area doesn't come around too often lol |
You might as well return it to Amazon. Doesn't matter if it was a $100 or a $1000 exhaust system, those tips are unacceptable. I'm pretty sure you will have no issue getting a full refund if you open a chat with them.

I took off my test pipes and installed my z1 HFCs the tips are more even now. Since it's a knock-off you get people who don't weld the supports at the right spots... |

My girlfriend just read this post and asked me what I wanted. Looks like I just confirmed my valentines gift loll. I've been on the fence on this for months now, screw it. I just buy my Z1 HFC'S TO pair with it.:happydance:

Btw, I'd powder coat the axle back black and call it a day. Shouldn't be that expensive.

I have this exhaust, I like it overall but am looking at cutting out the resonators and replacing it with vibrant ones. My passenger side tip was too high, so I used washers on the exhaust hanger bracket for now. I plan to get the exhaust shop to take it off and reposition it so the tips hang more even, since I'll be there getting resonators swapped.
I'm just deciding between vibrant's "bottle" resonator or their "ultra quiet" resonators. Sent from my SM-N920W8 using Tapatalk |
I went with the Amazon Rev9 exhaust similar to yours (since I asked you earlier in the thread) and enjoyed it but the drone was a bit much. Flooring the car also made it sound like there was an exhaust leak (there wasn't) and sound of rushing air as opposed to the expected sound. Long story short I spent $800 on a used FI CBE and it's a night and day difference. IMO if I was to do it again from the start I'd spend the extra $400 for quality to be happier in the long run but that's just my :twocents:

Hmm, I was considering this as well, well waiting to find someone selling a used HKS exhaust locally, or try replacing the resonators on this. I haven't had any issues so far. On wot, I actually love how it sounds. It's the daily driving drone I don't like.

It's also a plus that the Stillen looks almost stock with its rolled tips. One thing with the DNA, I love the sound on full throttle. I've also got resonated test pipes. |
You gunna sell the old exhaust by chance lol
|
Yes but local only. Shipping from Canada to the US will be pricey haha

I bought a set in January right after I bought the z. tips are still burnt, but then again I have only 300 miles on it, my problem is the driver side tip is way off from the center. passenger side is perfect. love the sound of them.
