best intake bang 4 money without taking off front ebd
I do not want to take of the front end.
so no stillen.... that said. what's left inn? what else? |
Stay factory with K&N drop in filters. Do the hoses from the Map to the intake. Your done.
|
Post maf tubes and K&N drop ins... been around since 2009. Tested within a crew hp of a CAI. Just take some time to research. This is a very common mod.
|
As previously mentioned, if your not willing to remove the front fascia (which is really easy by the way) then just go with the MAF tubes and good high flow filters (K&N or similar).
|
You don't want to pull air from the hot engine compartment. If you don't want to pull the front cover to install a third-party CAI, the recommendations above (free-flowing filters and pipes) are your best bet. You might want to look into insulating the piping, filter box, etc.
I haven't pulled a 370Z front cover but, going by what I've read on this site and others, it's not a difficult job. Buy a handful of the rivets used to mount the cover - most people break at least one during the job. The FSM (link in my sig) has the procedure for R&Ring the cover (with drawings and other helpful info) and there are several DIYs on this site. |

Good plan.
As others have echoed.. taking off the front bumper is super easy. After doing it the first time I can get it done in about 5 minutes now. |

that should have the tubes and the filters and all I need right?
better price out there than on amazon? https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...worldtransl-20 |
This is what you need. Only $216.00
https://www.z1motorsports.com/z1-pro...es-p-5292.html https://www.z1motorsports.com/air-in...er-p-3305.html What you posted will suck in hot air from the engine compartment. The stock set-up gets fresh air from behind the bumper. |
I have everything you need just sitting on my table. Was gonna go this route but decided to go for a CAI in the end. PM'd you.
|
and if I want to do better then the stillen gen 3.
What's the price of the gen3 ? Is it really worth it compare to drop in knn and silicones ? |

Like 500 new or find used for 400, cheaper if your lucky. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though. Some would say yes, others no. If your looking for the best bang 4 your money you should probably go with the MAF tubes, as the stock air intake on the Z is well designed and functional, or so that is what I have read here. Not the easiest of choices perhaps do what your funds and budget will allow you too. |
Here's the Stillen G3's.
https://www.z1motorsports.com/air-in...it-p-3847.html You can pick up a set used a lot cheaper if you are willing to wait. Someone always have a set for sell. The other side of this is. What are your plans for the Z. What other mods you want to do? |

Z1 intake also looks very nice and does not require any cutting like the Stillen does.
|
I am not looking to heavily engine mod it.
just help it breath better and a better sound. I have to admit that the stilen is tempting |

So, then you decide to just get a GTR instead. You start to do some research into owning, etc. You find out you get attacked by other guys wanting you to lauch it, race it, show it, etc. The women don't even get a chance to look at it due to all the guys in the way. They don't even know the car is there. So this get's you thinking. How much fun will it be to drive with all these swinging nut sacks attacking you? Hmm, GTR's are expensive to modify. You can get to 600hp before it starts to get too crazy. Ouch, not what you expected. Maybe you should just keep a low profile in a Z and just do the twin turbo's that you wanted to do. |
