1320 performance test pipes review. *updated

Ok so I ordered a set of test pipes for my Nismo cost was $160 shipped. Recieved well packed and no damage. Got to looking around welds that look great. But noticed a small pin hole in a weld in the passenger side one near where it bolts to the manifold. I have pictures that I'll load here soon. Happy over all and maybe I got the only one that was over looked. Over all with out installing them they get an A depending on how they handle the pin hole issue they will get an A+.

Update they are getting an F on customer service and warranty issues.

Ok I must say There response was quick like 3 hour after I emailed them. That would be like 9:00pm there time. Asked for better picture. So I came home and took them and sent them back to them. Now waiting on a response back. I'll post pictures of the better pictures of the hole.

Interested to see what kind of numbers these will make , didn't even know 1320 fabricated parts I thought it was just a racing channel lol

EP370z 01-11-2017 05:40 PM

They look great

DEpointfive0 01-11-2017 07:03 PM

You're likely to get a CEL with that short of an O2 bung

Jayhovah 01-11-2017 07:15 PM

They do look nice though... I like that there is a flex section.

EP370z 01-13-2017 09:35 AM

SG4247 01-13-2017 11:58 AM

Talk about being on the test pipe....

Triva question:

Why are they called "test pipes"?

Think they're intended purpose to check if the cats were clogged or was it different part of the exhaust.

SG4247 01-13-2017 04:01 PM

Bingo!

Back in the 70s when CATs first came out, they would clog up and the car wouldn't go over about 45 mph.

The shady muffler shops would sell you a "test pipe" to see if the CAT was clogged, but most wouldnt install them due to fear of the EPA.

We installed them and just left them in.

zdreams 01-13-2017 06:29 PM

+1 for fast intentions RESONATED test pipes looking the exact same

My first car was an 87' Charger. The cat went bad and the car wouldn't go faster then 40mph. The shop used a test pipe to trouble shoot the problem, but wouldn't sell it to me. I tried to convince them, but they refused.

I understand your frustration as I had a pinhole leak in my system when I first ordered it, but you can easily remedy this with a spot of QuikSteel ($5 for a tube and eligible for Prime). I know doing this defeats the purpose of getting the vendor to uphold customer service standards, but you get what you pay for with Ebay and you'll save yourself what I assume will be a major headache.

EP370z 01-16-2017 07:08 PM

I'll file still and make them stand up behind there warranty. I hope they do right because I was hoping that would be another reputial company that other 370z and g37 guys could use for a lower priced option. But if they won't stand behind there warranty then I won't push to send them business.

phunk 01-16-2017 07:56 PM

That is a problem with cheap imported products like this.

There is not enough margin in it for them to pay for shipping the pipe to them and then back to you again. That is if they even have state-side fabrication facilities to take care of it. Otherwise they would have to find a local welder to them to throw $40 at to fix it, etc, cause they arent going to ship it back to China where it came from.

EP370z 01-21-2017 03:24 PM

Ok problem solved they move shops and just got the computers hooked up supposedly, but they are refunding $15 to take it to a weld shop to have fixed.

Next should be install with pictures and issues if any. Then I'll try to get a sound clip.

EP370z 02-07-2017 10:31 AM

Ok so just got pipe back from welder and he fixed a total of 4 holes ( pressure tested ) dropping other pipe off tomorrow to have him check that one also.

EP370z 02-13-2017 07:33 PM

Ok so I got the pipes installed and wow these pipes are perfect only issue I have had was the top outer most bolts and had to "adjust" drivers side header heat shield nut near steering shaft. But other than that it's easy. Over all I'm happy.

Possible update on these 1320 parts?
A friend of mine drove a few hours to 1320performance for some bmw parts.

He sent me some photos of what they have. Their pipes look good from the pictures.
Theyre Z headers priced at 300$ i believe. I really want to pull the trigger for it.. but i can/will only replace the cat or header.. both will be too loud .

I couldnt find any reviews other than from some Honda and Frs/brz guys. I guess i will wait!

jasonkim370z 03-14-2017 10:48 PM

there are some people using anti reversion muffler:yum:
it seems like that muffler is awesome for killing high frequency noise.

Ok guys I know I'm reviving an old post. But the test pipes are holding up great but don't drive car much lol. I've put on less the 2k since I've owned my car.

Have you had the chance to dyno? Does you feel improvements?

EP370z 12-06-2019 04:37 PM

I got dynotuned at Dynosty 331whp and 266 trq. Sound is great with my HKS exhaust. Plan to go turbo with a custom set up soon so they will be coming off.

Is that custom turbo setup going to be like what we have seen lately? LMAO, or something of quality?
