Do headers increase the sound?

I have full bolt ons from the test pipes back and am curious if I add headers will it increase the sound? The set up I have right now is loud enough and I don't really want an increase in sound just increased breathability and hp of course:icon17: the cold starts are already almost to loud for me and I'm not really trying to attract any extra attention from the cops. Any input is greatly appreciated!

If you increase the flow, you increase the noise. IIRC, it's not linear; something like proportional to the square of the flow.

You can definitely tell when a car has thin-wall steel tube headers. You can hear the exhaust pulses as "tink" sounds when they enter the pipes.
