ARK GRiP - fitment off.

Put my GRiP exhaust on by myself and I was having trouble adjusting the tips. Got them as close as I could and took it into a shop to have them take a crack at it. As you can see the drivers side one sticks out just alittle farther than the right and even up on a lift with two people we couldnt get them to line up. Anyone else have this issue? We tried loosening everything again and just cant get them to line up. Im not even sure bending a hanger will fix it, it seems like the left one is just longer?

ran into the same issue today. any luck anyone?

One of my cousin's neighbor's friends said to use extra gaskets on the shorter side.

A bit old but just installed mine; had opposite-same problem.
Passenger sits out more, driver is more under the bumper by the exhaust port.. hoping it wont be a issue of melting my bumper. Its not all the way in there.. but its right below where it comes out.

Maybe a bigger exhaust gasket was my choice it seems like. I did it with 3 people to hold it up etc..i messed with the hanger so no rub would occur(rub on bumper).
Best i could do was make it more straight

I had the same problem last year. I took it to a local shop that specializes in Z's, it was misaligned they installed it. The mechanic suggested that I had the pipes heated and bent. I took it to the Nissan dealership and they aligned them in about an hour. It should have went there in the first place.

I just had the ARK GRiP put on my 16' on Saturday...the drivers side tip sticks out about an inch but the passengers tip is totally flush with the bumper cutout...the installer tried everything to get it to equal out but to no avail...the shop is reaching out to ARK as I type...expect this kind of fitment issue with an eBay special but not with a $1300 name brand exhaust...will keep you guys updated with what ARK says...

I have the same exhaust and all good here.

Try to adjust it from the front and don't tight them so much so you can move them. Then when perfectly align tight all the bolts.

OR take it to a regular shop so they can chop off some of the exhaust so it can align correctly. Should be just under $100 max.

After seeing this thread and now seeing three misalignment posts in a row, this post couldn't be more relevant. Kind of surprised people still buy this system at MSRP. $1300 gets you plenty of other, better options.

:iagree:

Its a shame some of you have had this problem. I had fitment issues in the beginning, but after loosening and tightening, the exhaust lined up pretty good, id say fitment is 9/10.

Hope everything works out for all, this is great sounding/looking exhaust

The installer loosened and tightened the bolts in every pattern possible for about an hour...the bolts only allow adjustments from left to right and up and down which isn't the problem...the problem is front to back which isn't adjustable...the drivers side is just too long...still waiting on ARK to decide what they're going to do to rectify the situation...it really is unfortunate because this system to me is second to none in looks and sound...with a MSRP over $1300 I really don't feel I should have to do anything but bolt on and drive let alone take to a shop to have them cut it up to fit correctly...i truly hope everything works out because this is the only exhaust i want on my Z...

ARK GRiP - fitment off.

If anyone was curious for contacting ARK. This was the replies after i asked if i was able to use a possibly bigger exhaust gasket ..
Maybe be a production issue? Not everything is perfect out the factory.. some will have bananas here and there..
And yes, mine is still off; driver side still sticks out more just like yours. I just now ignore it as it doesnt bother me now.

That exhaust note though
Paid 800 used for mine.. excluding gaskets and bolts which i went to the hardware store for .. ~10$
I did try and contact ark for the bolt and washer sizes.. the person that answered picked up after one ring and did not know what size and decided to go ask one of the guys packing it.. on hold for 10 minutes.. came back and said non of those guys are there (probably on break?). Anyways i asked him to email me it when he got the chance..

I still have not yet received that email till this day lol.

i cant really complain as i was complicating a motordyne or ark new. Now i have some spare change around ..

What did you ask them to do specifically? align your exhaust? Mine currently rubs on my bumper and is starting to melt it a bit

I had that problem when i installed hfc. I just removed the y pipe but it ended up screwing everything at the tips. My tips was touching, hitting, rattling off the bumper.
I WD'd all the hangers on both side so they can move around to position when i tighted everything down.

Tldr. Try and rebolt yout exhaust and play with the hangers. Bolt from cat first then make your way back.
One side is still longer by a tiny bit.. ive learned to ignore but i will always know its there..

My Ark Grip was the same as most, I had my local shop do the install and then another hundy or so to fix the misalignment.
Gotta say though, it growls deep and friggin sings climbing up the tach. Love the sound.
