Best Air Intake
 

Hello all.

I'm actually about a month away from purchasing my a 2010 370Z and I know that right off the bat, I would like to get a cold air intake.

anybody have any suggestions as to the best/their favorite?

I was thinking about Stillen Dual Intakes but from the looks of things, there are a few different kinds.

This will also be the first Z i've ever owned, so this is all pretty new to me.

There are actually a lot of threads here about different intakes. Stillen and Injen cold air intakes are usually the favorites showing gains across the board.

Most short ram intakes for the 370z so far have proven to give very little to less than OEM intake box gains/losses respectively (Someone posted a loss in HP compared to stock with Takeda short ram intakes while I don't believe anyone who has installed the HKS suction short ram intakes have done independent dyno testing)

I suggest doing a search on intakes and you'll find a plethora of information

Can't go wrong with the Stillen's.. fitment isn't perfect but the sound & gains sure are!

Why aren't the fitments perfect?

My heart knows that the Stillen is the filter to go for, but my laziness is stronger than my will...

I think fitment is fine on the gen 3. It really depends on the installer. But to answer your question, I would go with Stillen Gen 3

Injen CAI is also another option.

I like the placement better of the Stillen, but I like the fact that Injen has dry filters that require less maintenance. You will have to remove the front bumper every time you clean the filters.

I also like that Injen has a black finish as well, requiring less polishing and giving a stealth look IMO. I owed an Injen on my G35 and fit and finish are great.

i did some research on the Sillen Gen3's and i think that might be the way i'll go.

i do like Holliday's point about the black finish requiring less polishing and such. does anybody know if i took the Stillen's somewhere to be powder coated if that would be a bad idea?

You could have it powder coated professionally or get a can of caliper paint that can withstand the heat and do it yourself. It would be a more unique part for sure.

Or just some quality regular spray paint they see maybe a hundred degrees internally and are away from from anything hot. No need for caliper paints get something that will look nice maybe body colored to match.
