AAM Short tails - Too Loud?
I just got my short tails installed a few days ago and they sound fantastic, but they're louder than expected, even after watching countless videos of the exhaust before purchasing.
Another thing is, the exhaust (even at idle sounds louder in the cabin than outside). I'm assuming under load it's the same way, but I'm just worried I'm going to be getting pulled over in town for just driving around. Has anyone ran into issues with the short tails with your local police force? Any tips on keeping the volume down in town? I think I've found a few sweet spots at certain gears but I'm curious of other people's experiences. Thanks! |
They sound louder inside the cabin due to the lack of noise insulation, and after two years mine are no longer loud enough... I need moooree :yum:
But never been pulled over  |

Thanks! :tiphat: |
It's worse with test pipes and aftermarket mid-pipes. Heard another Z in person with stock nismo exhaust but AAM short tails, wasn't bad volume wise, but on mine with test pipes and midpipes it was unbearable.

That's good to know. I don't plan on doing any more exhaust work since I do like the tone now. It's hard to get a idea when I'm always driving the car and not outside of it when it's going down the road. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I love it myself...the only part that gets to me is at 4k and even then it depends on the mood im in. Its either I love it or let me let down the windows a bit. Im currently trying to figure out the route I want to take with Mid pipe, headers, and intakes....She will probably become an audible death machine but as long as I love it i guess.
