Newly Installed GTHaus Meisterschaft FCBE

I recently received (after a excruciating 7 month wait from the time I placed the order) and installed a full GTHaus Meisterschaft Full Cat Back Exhaust.

I just thought I'd record a few thoughts -

1) the fit and finish are of the highest quality; I say this with a level of authority because I'm a working professional metallurgical engineer. Welding and fabrication are very high end.

2) It took an experience muffler shop about 45 minutes to install it with no fitment issues.

3) Once installed - it truly is car jewelry - while you have to awkwardly put your head on the driveway to see it - its worth the strain.

4) Sound - this is the best and or worst part. I'll say that it definitely leaves an impression. I think I like it but I'm not sure about its intensity. Keep in mind I'm not shy about exhaust noise - I turbocharged a Miata with open pipes and had a supercharged Corvette Z06 - which my wife claims should could hear when I was three blocks away. So from that perspective - this exhaust may be too loud (did not ever think I'd say that). I only have about 20 mins with it so far so I'm sure I will get used to a lot of it. People have said that at less than 3-4K RPM its not too loud - I'd add that's true but it depends on the throttle position too - WOT at 3-4K is extremely loud - 3-4K while your in a higher gear and not really pulling is fine. Again I like it but it is very extreme; not for the light hearted. By the way - my car is a 2013 Touring - completely stock - so no test pipes, standard factory cats.

5) Overall I think I'll keep it and I do feel that its worth the money (not so much the wait - I wont get into why it took so long). It is so extreme that it does change the driving experience of the car - changes it from a cruiser to a snarling race car. A lot of you might say great - that what's you want. But on the other hand - there are a lot of reasons why most do not like to drive race cars on the street besides the legal issues (sound being one of them).

6) I don't want to discourage anyone - I'm happy with what I got - just a caution that you should be aware before you buy. Do not take the "its too loud" comments that are through out this forum lightly.

Should break in a quiet down slightly but this exhaust is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Ohh yeah, that GTHaus is a mean exhaust! It get's angry fast!! I have only heard it a few time on a Dyno day and it was CRAZY!! I never seen or heard it on the road though.

it's certainly not cheap 0.o or i'm not looking at the right thing, but it shows the complete exhaust would be over $3,500?!

The loudness will not discourage most. Its the price tag that will. Congrats on your new exhaust.

Well - after driving it for a few days, my impressions have changed a little. I have grown to like the sound even more - especially at mid to low RPMs. I pulled out of a covered garage spot right next to a new V8 Jag F-Type - which has a fantastic sounding exhaust - the GTHaus was better - not kidding. (I'm also a classical guitarist - were known for our fixation on tone....the tone (not loudness) was genuinely more full and purring than the Jag's). I have a 2013 Roadster which is otherwise stock, though optioned out. The tone at full throttle with the top down is a bit ear shattering, but unless I'm driving it hard to high RPMs- its not too loud.

I did not install it myself - I was going to, but opted to pay the $140 to have it installed to save myself aggravation, skinned knuckles, and broken fingernails (important to classical guitarists). They did not reset the ECU. I thought about this - From my old turbocharged Miata days, if the computer is adaptive (assume it is -all modern ones are) it should figure out any adjustments on its own, eventually. Let me know if there is any other advantage to resetting the ECU other than having the computer adapt more quickly.

As for price - I bought the Y- and Mid section, and of course the muffler pack - so full cat back. The total price was around $2700. As some have mentioned - quite a hit to the pocketbook. However - I will say (again referring to my engineering background) you definitely get what you pay for - the fit and finish, to include the quality of the welding, was top grade - and its not the easiest thing in the world to weld thin walled stainless steel tubing. Overall, its about $1000 over many other exhausts - is it that much better? To me it is - Aside from the remarkable sound and performance, I'd rather spend a little more and know I'm getting something that will not corrode and will not likely fail a weld.

There are lots of sound clips for the GTHaus but I'll see if I can get some snaps of it installed - its just as impressive to look at....
