A Hole In Gen 3 intake

Can someone tell me what is the best way to fix a hole in my stillen gen 3 intake? Thanks

I had this similar issue happen to me on my G3 CAI, but it did not go all the way through so I just used some paint. At that time I was looking at aluminum repairs. The video below may be helpful.
I ended up loosening the hose clamps to adjust the tubing so they are away from the metal lip. This repair seems it would work as long at the intakes don't get super hot. |
How did this happen? I would take the item to someone that has the expertise to weld aluminum.

I'm not sure how it happens. I've bought the car 3 months ago and just found out. I'm guessing it has been rubbing against the car edge.

I noticed this on mine the other day too, but theres no hole yet. Im going to grind down the tab that's rubbing on the intake.

The cheap way of doing it is to grind down the edges, and wrap duct tape around it.
To do it right. Tig weld it. Find a good aluminum tig welder. Hopefully he will know how to prep the area for welding, and can weld. Once you have it welded. Check inside the tube to make sure there is NO dingle berries hanging. If so, you will have to grind them down/off. The last thing you want is to have a dingle berry breaking loose and running down the tube at full speed into your motor. The other option is to get a new tube from Stillen. |

Wrap duct tape around the tube until the new tube shows up. You'll keep dirt and crap out for the time being. ;)

You need to fix it and pull an oil sample on your next oil change. You may have a dusted engine due to dirt ingestion from the hole. The silicone level of the oil sample will tell you if you have a major issue. No it's not OK to drive it in this condition.
