catalytic converter?

Anyone here install test pipes them self that can tell me if there is an easier way to remove the catalytic converters, either from the top or bottom or if maybe there is space to get to the top bolts if i remove the tire. or maybe a video on youtube. Thanks.

If capable? Remove the intakes so you have clear shots to the bolts from above.

Then safely remove the remaining bolts from underneath.

Make sure to use penetrating oil so the bolts can break loose.

They don't call them demon bolts for nothing.

Yes i will try that tomorrow, thanks.

Soak the bolts and nuts really good with Nut Buster! For about a week. Remove your O2 sensors before you try working on the bolts.

Your going to need about 2 ft of extensions. I grabbed the ones that can bend about 5 degrees. It's a bit of a maze. Not a real straight shot to them on the top ones. Also there is two bolts per side and one nut per side. I thought I stripped the nut off the bolt, but the threaded part stays on. Just reuse the nuts. One per side. Have fun amigo, and like trips said, use some penetrating oil.

It helps to have a friend below the car to help you align the socket to the bolts for you.

Highly recommend a 1/2 impact swivel, an impact socket in that size (14 if I remember correctly), as many 1/2" extensions as you need to get to them and at least an 18" break over bar. Think mine is 24". Don't be shocked if you snap a bolt or two.

I used all of this. The wobble socket on the end rocks! I broke one of the screws off.

Nothing more satisfying than doing it yourself and getting to know your car better. :tiphat:

It you have a protuner local to you, you can just buy the license from them. It'll be part of the cost when you get tuned. If you have no protuner close you'll have to purchase the license/cable from UpRev and take it with you. The cost will be substantially more if you go the none protuner route.

I recommend doing it before the end of the month cuz UpRev is having a price increase starting May 1st
