Options for conservative sounding exhaust?

Hi All,

I'm new to the "Z" world and was reviewing the various posts about exhaust. I'm looking for something that sounds fairly stock but provides better flow. Axle back would be preferred but open to suggestions.

Any input is greatly appreciated...

Thanks!

The Nissan S-tune is, I believe, pretty close to the NISMO's exhaust. I really enjoy the NISMO exhaust, it's not loud but you get a nice little "burble" at 1800 - 2000 RPM when you are cruising.

Since it's a factory option it's going to be very much on the conservative end. Just a little louder than stock. Actually it reminds me of the exhaust on my old 350Z, which also had that nice "burble" when cruising, unlike my first 370Z's stock exhaust which you couldn't even hear above the wind noise at 60 MPH.

Now I have to explain the $1,600 price to the wifey :-)

For that kind of dough, you have a lot of choices. Not sure about the conservative sound you're looking for, though. The stock CBE is way too quiet, in my opinion.

Thanks! Yeah, I've been looking at some of those. Sooooo many choices :-)

I like the GT Haus if I was to opt for non-conservative. But it's never going to sound like a v8. That's why I'm not comfortable with something too loud.

Throw on some headers. From what I read, they give a deeper tone.

I think I'll pass on that :-) I'll probably stay stock for a bit until I get restless, which might not take long. Them I'll decide what CBE to get.

Thanks!

Without a doubt go with what I call the exhaust for the mature z owner - AAM axleback with AAM Midpipe and h-pipe - the quality is amazing and the sound is very exotic and zero drone. It's very quite at idle and really opens up when getting on it. Look for my review! You won't be disappointed!i personally think it's one of the best sounding exhaust out there ! Also saw a drastic improvement with throttle response and mid range torque!

Keep in mind I also have berks HFC

I run a magnaflow CBE currently and it sounds lame...er I mean conservative, and it was very reasonably priced.
It's a little throatier then stock with out waking the neighbors.

Headers do the exact opposite. The exhaust pitch is higher. More resonators generally equals lower, deeper sound. My old Tanabe exhaust was "conservative", but not with headers. There are quite a few exhausts that are meant to be under 95db.

Thanks for all the great input! It will certainly help me find what I want.

I have a Nismo with test pipes and phantom370z has carbon fiber FI, based on his last post we should both be at cars and coffee next week so you'll be able to hear a few in person

Personally I am happy with the Nismo and most importantly my fiancé doesn't think my car is obnoxious.

Thanks. I was thinking the same thing... :-) Nobody wants to be the guy with an obnoxious exhaust... :-)
