Headers?

Been searching thru the forums on header reviews and didnt see much. What is the best header or what do you guys recommend PPE, Z1, etc? Thanks!

gomer_110 01-26-2015 05:24 PM

Only really three to chose from, two long tube, and one shorty.

For long tube headers, it's either Fast Intentions or PPE. I have the FI headers and love them but have also heard great things about the PPE long tubes.

For the shorty option, you only have the Z1 header which is a copy of the momentum headers that were made for the 350Z.

All three of these are good options and in the end it's really just up to you.

Agree with this. I got the FI LTH's too.

Just remember. Installing LTH's. The driver's side is a bear to do. It will take you about 6hrs. The right side about 1.5 hrs. And don't use a impact gun to remove the exhaust bolts. Because the impact gun WILL KILL the sensors from vibrations.

About $500 to install. Better off keeping stocks and just running test pipes

OP, just noticed you're from Cali. I'm guessing due to emissions reasons you won't be able to legally run long tube headers since they delete the cats. The Z1 shorties paired with some HFC's might be your best option. Then again I'm not from Cali so I'm just speculating here.

Hey guys thanks for all the info! Since I already have the FI exhaust I'll look into their headers as well. And Gomer yea I'm in Cali, but have a buddy who can cheat my smog if ay know what I mean! Haha again thx guys for the info

I think FI is the way to go too i- it seems very useable from a street loudness standpoint - i plan to order some next week to pair with my 18" fi exhaust as well. What size resonators are you running now?

I got the 12 inchers.

gomer_110 02-21-2015 09:43 PM

None. I have the FI non-res cbe paired with their lth's.

Riptide67 02-22-2015 12:45 AM

FI LTH and Non Res FI exhaust is where it's at!

PharmDZ 02-22-2015 09:20 AM

I haven't gotten the car dynod yet but I like my momentum headers since they give me the option to run a high flow cat or resonated test pipe (I'm using motordyne art pipes). Z1 is a copy of these headers. I still have very little drone and rasp, if at all. Just a bit more of that hiss some people get.

Elmo370z 02-22-2015 09:49 AM

if your going to spend the money i don't see why you just don't go with the LTH's. Are you worried about install and tuning prices?

Sound clip? I'm running the F.I. LTHs paired with the F.I. TDX CBE w/ 18" resonators and I'm thinking of swapping the x-pipe out to non-resonated.

Unfortunately nothing that does it justice. Just some iphone videos when the car was on the dyno.

Elmo370z 02-22-2015 11:12 AM

Im thinking about getting the 12 res, are the non res that loud and raspy?

Rusty 02-22-2015 12:09 PM

Mine with the 12 inchers. Have the mike taped just below the plate.

I got Megan's and they do their job, car feels faster, and it does, last week left away a couple of S3 that normally gave me hard work.

Installation suck, actually I broke one of the O2 sensors and have to replace it, 170 on ebay.

PharmDZ 03-02-2015 08:49 PM

Given my past experiences with Megan racing products I most definitely do NOT recommend them for the Z. If you're gonna pay or take the time to do that terrible install don't throw in a shoddy product. The headers already listed (Fast Intentions, PPE, Momentum, Z1) have proven HP gains and quality. Stick with them or don't bother.

PongSanity 08-27-2015 06:10 PM

thats a nice vid. sounds sweet! i too am in the market for headers. whether it be fast intentions LTH, z1 headers paired with their test pipes or z1 headers paired with my fast intentions HFC. decisions, decisions, decisions. i'm more active on the myg37 site and they're two individuals who will be tuning lth and z1 headers paired with HFC respectively, both on ECUTEK, so after that, i'll decide on which route to go.

SwissCheese 08-27-2015 09:23 PM

So how bad is the install with z1 headers, compared to the FI or PPE long tubes?

cdoxp800 08-27-2015 09:43 PM

Heres my setup

IM doing the Z1 headers in Oct along with their HFC.
I'm doing before and after dyno results..

jcosta79 09-08-2015 02:49 PM

Stillen still makes headers for the Z, no?

They have them listed on their site, available to purchase. I'm not sure of the gains on them, though.
