Finally Here!

Not sure if any of you saw my post a few weeks ago about me moving back to the island, but I'm finally back after many years. My car should be here next Wednesday and I'm looking forward to meeting as many of you as I can. I was told that Cars and Coffee will be held the weekend I get my car. I just hope my car passes inspection. All I changed was springs, semi tinted tails, and blacked out headlight housings. Do any of you think I'll have a problem with that?

If your car is visibly dropped, you'll need a reconstruction inspection first before your safety check. If not visibly dropped you should be OK. Probably need to make an appointment with the recon guys. While there, they can make the call on the headlights. How dark is the tint? If more than 35% the'll get you too ... plus, aftermarket tint usually adds $5.00 to the $15.00 Safety Check fee. Welcome back, and good luck with DMV ...

I'm thinkin with just the exterior mods they are gonna nail him for recon anyways. When I got to the island, they tried to send me for recon when I was bone stock. Just depends on which place you go and with the new recon laws dropping in November, I'm sure that the safety stations are gonna be SUPER cautious. Especially with the setup HPD set up today for the "Recon Cruise" that ended up being all modified cars without recon getting ticketed. Had a friend who got a ticket because his tire size differed from his recon paperwork.

Thanks for the heads up. My window tint is still stock. Tails are semi but are still red. And headlights are just color matched. Lenses are still clear

Basically a "F*ck the new Recon" Cruise was passed on multiple car forums, instagram, and facebook pages. No one knew who started it, who posted but basically it blew up. No one cared as reliable sources started to post it so no one questioned it. Show up at the NEX and there was cop cars posted EVERYWHERE. Cop cars all over H1 near the exits. They had tents basically where the cops were standing and you were FORCED to drive through and asking people for their recon paperwork. Whoever didn't have it or didnt match the recon paperwork 100% got ticketed. Was it actually set up by the cops or did the cops just get smart? No one really knows. It was obvious cops were going to be all over the place though as mass media spread the cruise across every Hawaii car forum.

Yeah this new Safety Check/Recon Laws are getting stupid. But can't wait to see your car OP

Thanks UruZai! And thank you all for the info. I just hope they don't give me **** about my tails and headlights. Or I'll be looking for a set of each or maybe one of you could help a guy out by letting me use yours for a day lol. But car should be here in a few days and I hope to meet as many of you as I can. And if any of you need any painting or hydrodipping of small parts let me know! Headlight work as well (paint, LEDs) ;)
