RARE Wheels STOLEN!! But we took care of it =)
http://www.project-definition.com/an...2012/11/01.jpg
Well now that they released it locally here in Hawaii: My story: A buddy of mine told me that his coworker had his wheels stolen. Not just any wheels, but a RARE set of Gramlights with CRAZY specs. 19x9 -10 f & 19x10 -20 out here in Hawaii. We then spread it on my project-definition facebook page and word of mouth pretty much went everywhere. Soon, I saw posts about it everywhere in just a matter of hours. http://www.project-definition.com/an...2012/11/02.jpg Fast forward to a day later... I get a call at work from one of my friends saying that someone found the wheels that everyone was posting on facebook, instagram, twitter, etc on craigslist. I then got a hold of my buddy to let the owner of the rims know. He then calls me up and we decide to scope em out together. http://www.project-definition.com/an...2012/11/03.png I pick him up at his place (i've never met this guy before) and he tells me he was able to secure a meeting with him at a shopping center in town. We roll out!. At the same time, he calls the dude selling the wheels on craigslist but was getting the run around on the meeting. I then call my other friend to come by but act as a separate entity on trying to meet up with the seller. This way, we would have a better chance in "hooking" him for the night. He calls the guy, offers a higher price to buy the wheels, and was able to set up a meet 30 mins from now. The owner of the rims then flags down a cop and notifies him of the situation. He then leaves but sends over some undercover cops to help us out. 30 mins go by and my friend gets a phone call from the guy saying to meet him somewhere else. Thankfully, it was across the street. The owner stayed with the undercover guys while my friend and I hopped into my SUV. We proceeded slowly to cross the street; giving time for the cops to catch up. We are then flagged down by the seller who has the wheels on a dolly for inspection. Before going into this, the owner told me the offsets that my friend and I had to look for. http://www.project-definition.com/an...2012/11/04.jpg Sure enough, they were the wheels! We "signaled" the cops and a gripload of them showed up! http://www.project-definition.com/an...2012/11/05.jpg To end this quickly, those were the wheels and he got arrested. We all then jotted down our statements with the cops and the detectives at the station. We were able to secure the wheels and come home 3am in the morning with the satisfaction that we did something AWESOME that night. He must have the worse luck, selling EXTREMELY RARE rims on an island. Behold, the power of the internet and social media! Cheers! http://www.project-definition.com/an...2012/11/04.jpg |
I'll post this up in the general chat too. Just wanted fellow Hawaiians to get a heads up =)
That is awesome, saw this posted yesterday that this happened and glad to hear the full story.
Awesome story and so glad you guys found those beautiful BEAUTIFUL rims. What a ridiculous theft.
I hope the fucker dies!
pure awesome!!
Glad you got the guy, and by the way your friends car is sick!
I hate thieves. Crack heads broke into my house in Pearl City and jacked my car keys stealing my brand new STi and old Civic, several years ago.
Take a bite out of crime.
Nice, he got what he deserved! Filthy thieves
wait? the asian guy is the good guy in this movie? no way :)
this is awesome man. Glad the wheels got returned. |
Great story! I always love hearing some success. Nice wheels too!
Nice job! Islands are small places, selling rare items is going to get you caught especially if you're stupid enough to use craigslist.
haha! awesome story!
Glad you guys were able to help him out. :tiphat:
Impressive job! |
Wow. The stupidity of this story blows my mind. How dumb do you have to be to steal something very rare and expensive on a island, then try to resell it on craigslist on a damn ISLAND?. Simply amazing. You guys did the right thing, but had it been me there woulda never been any mention of it on the internet, and there definitely wouldn't have been any police involved. The temptation would be too strong to just handle it.
Saw this on the news last night, good to hear the car community looks after one another.
what a complete ******* for listing rare stolen wheels on craigslist hawaii hahaha glad you got them back :tiphat:
Great job guys!!! One for the good guys
geez andrew, you military guys police everything!!!! jk! glad you got those amazing wheels back though. i posted that exact thing on fb too..... "very rare wheels......those'll turn up quick." was my exact words lol. for catching the thief. hope this makes all other thieves think twice before doing it.
Hey Guys, Check the Honolulu Advertiser today. You guys are in it, Great Job
Awesome ending.
I'm late but that's awesome. Good thing it worked out the way it did. I can just imagine if someone unsuspectibly bought the wheels and showed up at a meet or show. :/
Man how awesome is that! Great job gettin it out there quick
It's good to read this again. We need more happy endings.
Your friend is a much smarter and more patient man than I am. If someone steals something that expensive from me, they die.
