671 - Guam - Official Chat Thread

Since, there has been little chatter here recently and everyone posting on the same thread. I though I'd start the official chat there in this section.

One thing that I'd like to get started is an official listing of Z Owners/Members so we know who to contact for meets, tech assistance, or who to call for what when we run into a problem.

We should probably start and official owner list:

1. JC671 (Nitrous'ed Black Cherry Z)
2. Simota1 (1SIKZ34) "The Zed"
3. Navyboy916 (Soon to be JUN cam Black Cherry Z)
4. Roy M. (is he on here?) Red Z
5. afbunn (monterrey blue Z)

Thats all that I can think of. Anyways, what has everyone been up to?

afbunn 10-04-2012 10:29 PM

Sitting here angry, sad and confused, waiting to get my baby back! One of the worst things about Guam is its location in reference to everywhere else. Damn CSC is gonna take supposedly 2 weeks to get here from Nissan. Do any of you know a mechanic named Carlo? He works at a place called Mcchanix or something like that? He's the guy working on my car, my buddy vouched for him when he did all the work on his 350.

Once I get it back, I have some plans for it. Some are:
-Short throw shifter
-New clutch pedal assembly
-Shift knob
-Sounds

:)

Sorry to hear man. But why are you going thru Nissan Guam to buy your CSC? You are on a forum where vendors sell stuff cheaper than here on Guam and you can get the part a hell of alot faster?

The only thing I buy locally is things that I cannot wait for but as far as parts, I buy everything through our trusted site vendors.

What shift knob you plan on running?

afbunn 10-05-2012 07:41 AM

I don't know, I started to go through a guy who worked on my buddy's 350 and he ordered the stuff. I didn't think to check here for quicker shipping. Does any vendor here sell things like the OEM CSC for a good price with quick shipping? I'm not familiar with all the vendors here yet as I'm still pretty new to the site.

afbunn 10-05-2012 07:43 AM

Oh, and I'm looking into one of the teardrop shift knobs in a black color with the shift pattern on the top. Weighted to either 140 or 170 grams.

Do not allow someone to make decisions for you. Do research, compare, read reviews. Just because someone has worked on a 350z does not mean that person can work on a 370z. They are two different motors. Some things may be the same but alot of it is different.

Use this site and use the search bottom for any issue. More than likely there are several owners who have had or experienced the same issue already and have found the remedy. Do you trust someone with your 30+k investment?

Check Z1motorsports, concept Z and all the other site vendors. Why would you go back to the OEM CSC? Thats been a known issue. I plan to correct mine soon but may just buy the part and have it lay around until I encounter that issue.;)

Any pics or links? PM me your number. We should have lunch whenever your car works again with Simota. Hope things go well. Keep us posted.

afbunn 10-05-2012 09:51 AM

Yeah sure that'd be great. You drive a Black Cherry with Fairlady badges and an exhaust, I'm guessing Fast Intentions? License plate GMEOVR? If that's you, I saw you parked at the PAX terminal on Andersen yesterday. Haha. I'll PM you my digits. What would you say the best option for getting the new CSC installed here on island would be? I'd go to Nissan but even I know that you should avoid dealerships whenever possible. Maybe Nissan Guam is different, haven't really dealt with them. You bring up a good point. He didn't really make the decision for me, but he was really confident that the guy really knows his stuff and does good work. I trust him becuase he's a really good friend of mine, so I just went with that.

I'll find links and pics for the shift knob. Also let me know if you know any other good places to buy them from.

Navyboy916 10-10-2012 11:54 PM

Simota just got confirmation that the Mazda group will be there to. Looks pretty good for the turn out

afbunn 10-16-2012 06:34 PM

Anyone know the best place for a good detail job without blowing up your wallet?

Navyboy916 10-16-2012 07:18 PM

How much r u willing to spend? I usually go to east island tinting in hagatna

Navyboy916 10-16-2012 07:28 PM

No ******** the z is at Nissan to get the cams installed right now had to wait for new seals to come in from Japan. Should have the car by next Monday or Tuesday. And my sprint booster is here today once I get the car back I will let u know how it does and hopefully completely eliminates any gas pedal delay.

afbunn 10-21-2012 10:29 PM

NavyBoy how's your cam install coming along? About the detail job, it depends on what the rates are. I won't spend more than $100 just for a detail. Even $100 is pushing it.

Navyboy916 10-21-2012 10:35 PM

The install is coming along I am going today to drop off my new trans cooler and the hks spark plugs. I am hoping it will be done this week. I will take some more pics today. I also have ordered the nst pulley set for the car to. I paid 90 for service at east island tinting. They have cheaper rates to just go in and talk to them

So I went to Nissan Guam yesterday and saw the motor pulled out of the vehicle. This cam and valve train swap has become bigger then what was thought of.

JC671 11-06-2012 06:53 AM

Since I sold my last set of Drag Radials, Mickey Thompson ET Streets II cause they absolutely sucked for manual transmission cars do to the shock load. :shakes head:

I got some new DR's in the mail today I can't wait till I get off tomorrow and have them mounted on my new set of wheels also :happydance:

I've read many reviews before purchasing another set since our track sucks so much and contemplated downgrading the rear brakes just to be able to buy a slick and have it fit. After many days of research I found the right DR and hopefully I can get some 1.6-1.8 60fts.

If I can hit that 60ft. I'm sure the car should be in the 12s somewhere on the juice and somewhere in the 13s consistently all motor.:ugh2:

Soon the Long Tube Headers and I can't wait:tup:

Hopefully I get off this Friday and weather holds up so I can get a few runs in. *Crosses Fingers*:driving:

Wassup homies...Good to know that there are some of you guys still keeping active on this site...I haven't been on in a long while....JC...congrats on breaking them 12's again man...Awesome job...I found a vid of your car hitting a 13.0 at the track...With some sptting flame balls out the tail pipe from Juice!!!

Here's the vid in case none of you have seen them...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iePTfCHmvDw

BTW..what slicks did you go with? Are you running your new slicks on the run in this vid? If so they seem to grab a lot better than your old set.

How the FI set doing for you with the LTH combo?

Holy moly it's been a very long time since I've been back on this forum. Call it a car hiatus. Gino thanks for the vid link.

That was my first run that night on juice. That same night I ran 12's with more practice. The FI combo is a lot better than my previous setup. Yes that's the new Hoosiers I have in the back. The Mickey Thompson were trash and didn't hook well on our track.

I've been have new upgrades but really don't have time anymore for track days. Im hoping with he new setup to break mid-low 12's butu clutch ain't holding anymore even when all motor.

My best time all-motor was a 13.2 at the Nissan drag for life event when I got a 1.8 60ft and clutch was still good.

Hope every one has been good. :tiphat:
