Warranty Issues

Has anyone here had issues regarding their warranty being voided from installing aftermarket parts? There are so many things I want to do to the Z, especially after being on this forum, but was told by my salesman that any aftermarket parts installed on the car would void the entire warranty...

Wonder if others have this issue elsewhere

Can you please tell us what you intend to install, and then we can respond accordingly. Thanks.

Well about a month ago I was planning on purchasing the Stillen Headers from Simota1, but was informed by my dealer that any changes of parts would void my warranty in its entirety. I was even told the same thing for an aftermarket CBE and CAI....To make it clear my dealer said any parts changed from OEM even if its by them would void the warranty all together.....I had just purchased my Z in January. Although I really want to get these parts, don't think its worth losing the warranty...Was wondering whether anyone had a way around this?

I am not sure for overseas, but you can't void your warranty entirely by adding an aftermarket part. If you radio goes bad Nissan can't deny your warranty claim due to having headers installed on your car. It has to be a direct failure of the part due to the aftermarket part. So if you MAF sensor goes out and you have CAI installed it will be a little tougher to get the MAF covered under warranty. You will have to pay out of pocket and prove that the CAI didn't mess up the MAF. Hope that helps a little.

This is good to know...but is there anything in writing that we could provide to a dealer to argue this point...I mean it makes total sense what you're saying, but the dealers here are insistent that any aftermarket parts would void warranty...If there was some sort of clause we could cite, then it would be helpful

It's at the owners expense to fight the the claim.

haha but seriously bro... the warranty here at nissan sucks donkey balls.. they always try to ******** u around it and make it seem like ur fault... i say blah to them....

i was told that bolt on's would NOT void the warranty, but engine work would.
i was also told that they would have to prove that the aftermarket parts is what caused the problem on your car.

No kidding Simota...That's what I said when I pulled the trigger on the Berk...FWIW...Thanks for the advice on the Berk...You were 100% right when you recommended it to me.... It's all a waiting game now, but It's all good...I finally accepted that I have to wait for it...Too many complications with getting a refund...Oh well...

POMPEY...I guess you're right...Different strokes for different folks...I've heard all kinds of things about Warrnanty issues...Some dealerships are ok, while others aren't, and some have some restrictions....Simota is absolutely right about Nissan out here on Guam...They are super strict with their warranty issues...BTW...Are you originally from Guam? Your call sign is similiar to a local family (Manglona's) out here....
