If you are going to a track day you will need one. Tracks will not allow you to use the tow hook that comes with the car due to the size of it. (when I mean size I am talking about the round part where they can use to pull you out/tow your car) These are more to the specs of what the tracks are looking for. Someone correct me if I am wrong here. But this is what I have been told the last time I was at a track.

Your wrong. :)

Most tracks will require you have a tow hook installed on your car prior to going on track, but the stock one will do just fine. That being said, the stock one is ugly. I like these :).

Actually, it depends on the track Mike. Some will actually required that it has this minimum inner diameter. Also, some will require it to be Red, yellow, or orange but thats usually for higher levels of racing.

hahaha...So i'm not wrong  J/K I don't claim to know it all. Thanks I thought all tracks required it. Now I know to ask. Great product! I want 12!!! wait I can only use one ;)

Well I admit I haven't run at every track or with every organization, but every one I have run at, the OEM tow hook is fine for HPDE level events.

Great Quality!!

Must be autocross or gt tracks, right? Because I run at the drag strips all the time and have never needed one.

Correct... they usually require it for autocross, time attack, and/or drift events. Atleast here in AZ they do.

Interesting... That's why I'm buying the Z. I want to get into that sort of racing. I'm kind of tired of drag racing. I guess I'll be buying a tow-hook too. LOL

More and more sanctioning bodies are requiring the use of tow hook (including SCCA, NASA, and various drifting events)
Get your cars ready!

taken directly from SCCA club racing rule book

"9.3.47. TOWING EYES
All cars without an exposed roll bar shall have a towing eye or strap,
front and rear that does not dangerously protrude from the bodywork
when the car is racing, to be used for flat‑towing or hauling the vehicle.
A removable towing eye carried inside the car is not acceptable, except
in formula cars and sports racers. These towing eyes or straps shall be
easily accessible without removal or manipulation of bodywork or other
panels. Towing eye minimum ID two (2) inches.
The required tow eyes must be strong enough to tow the car from a
hazard such as a gravel trap. Front tow eye may be mounted in the driver
/ passenger side window openings, or any location forward of the windshield.
If mounted in the driver/passenger side window openings, it must
be attached to the forward roll cage down tube as close to the base of the
windshield as possible. If the front tow eye is located in the side window
openings there shall be one on each side of the car. Rear tow eyes must
be accessible rearward of the rear axle centerline.
In addition, if the main hoop of formula and sports racing cars is faired in
and there is no other means for a wrecker to lift the car without removal
of any bodywork or the fairing, the fairing shall have access holes to allow
the insertion of a bar or strap to allow the car to be lifted by a wrecker."
