What kind of price range are we looking at, if it's what I think it is there is just no way for me.

If they still fit the way they did before (which was not at all) maybe we could get Jon aka Simota1 to make some.

So you're not going to address the significant fitment concerns with this part? The one guy who has one of these reported it not fitting at all. Are you going to get a group buy together on a part that does not fit, or has Top Secret fixed them?

well here is a picture of my issue... you guys can see what i mean by its wayyyy off.... i should be able to fix this problem though ;) i had given up hope and was thinking of cutting the bars to fit and re welding them.... i asked one of my most experienced master welder friends to come by at my shop, after he saw it he said dont cut it... there is no way we can replicate the burn and on top of that titanium doesnt like getting welded twice or getting heated at all "insert boring welding talk between me and my friend here"

so i was back to square one... sad and frustrated at my bars that it would not fit.... so i called one of my machinists over and showed him my problem... after he looked at it... and in about 15 mins he goes... boss we can make this work... i looked him and said how there is barely no space for a bracket the studs are only like a inch and a half long and if we bolt down a spacer it would rise and my hood wont close... not to mention the plastic cant cover anymore...

the man leans over and says... well just take this piece out boss.... brothers i never knew that there was a factory spacer on the mount for the studs  "insert boring convo with my machinist here" viola a SS spacer which will bolt onto the studs like the factory spacers and will have build in studs for the top secret bars, the man is an absolute GENIUS... lol now its just time for the waiting game... i needa wait for my dad to go vacation again and then me and my machinist will fabricate that bracket ;) :happydance: im freaking stoked.... as for my varis hood... i figured a way to cut the rain gutters... some fiberglassing and it should clear... alot of work ahead of me though.... :ugh2: but i should be able to keep both the loves of my life.... varis and top secret lol

He had to make this to get it to fit.

Agreed. Its been said already on this thread, but if there are still fitment issues my guess is Sim would be more than willing to help out.

Hey guys, I just wanted to address the recent concern over the fitment of these strut bars. Please keep in mind that this is just a feeler thread to get interest brewing so that we can approach Top Secret and ask if they will make us a few limited edition/limited quantity strut bars.

With that said, we did a little research and found that the strut bar mounting point on the firewall between the JDM and USDM version Z34's are a bit different which is why there might be a small fitment issue. Upon ordering we will ask Top Secret regarding this to verify if this is the case, and we will notify you guys and let you know.

For many of you guys that have ordered authentic JDM parts before know that regardless of what the parts is, JDM parts are usually made for JDM specific cars and sometimes modification is needed to make authentic JDM pieces fit our cars here in the states.

Once we get enough interest and commitments for this strut bar, we will approach Top Secret and ask them about fitment of the strut bars on USDM cars.

Lets keep this momentum going and get a few more on the list! It's still an amazing and beautiful strut bar and is a must have for die hard JDM lovers or anybody that would like to have a super awesome and rare strut bar for their Z34.

It's an easy fix (if these need to be reworked to fit). A piece of metal, a drill press, and some nuts and bolts. Good to go.

If we get the TS strut tower bar and it still doesn't fit properly, I MIGHT be able to get something fabbed up for us. And for those who want it, I MIGHT be able to get it done in titanium as well so the end users can choose to burn it for that titanium blue burned mad tyte JDM madness. ;)

That's only if we get enough people to get the ball rolling and if Top Secret is awesome and chooses to do a limited run for us.

So... who wants to keep this ball rolling? :tiphat:

Wiggins3377 02-05-2014 09:35 PM

Seems like the issue is resolved...

KaienZ34 02-05-2014 09:41 PM

I think there would be more interest if we could get a public ballpark price on the strut bar.

OMGWTFBBQ 02-05-2014 09:48 PM

Well.. I mean if all it takes for it to fit is to fabricate that piece then I'm down to get something done about it. Seems like a simple enough fix.

I don't know about the whole issue with the Varis hood rain guards though. I'm not running rain guards with my Varis hood because I don't drive the Z on non sunny days (so 5 days of the year LOL) so meh.

Bo can chime in with his thoughts. But I've had a few discussions with Simota on his and I've done some research and they were a little north of $2k when Top Secret originally made them. That being said I would guess they would be a little higher for a limited production run.

KaienZ34 02-05-2014 10:06 PM

That's about what I was thinking.

Wiggins is correct. The previous retail cost from Top Secret was approximately $2,100 + domestic shipping. That price included international shipping from Japan and customs fee, duties, and import taxes. Keep in mind that this price was back when these were still in production.

Although we won't know what the new price will be this time around being that these will be a special/limited edition run, I would expect it to be somewhere in that ballpark. As soon as we get at least 5 people committed, we can reach out to Top Secret to get confirmation on whether they will do this favor for us and get a more accurate cost. Anybody that's interested can email me directly at bo@bulletproofautomotive.com.
