This thread is awesome. I want more shots from 370 owners who's brakes you've done. I really want red calipers, possibly with the Akebono logo. Just out of curiosity, do you have a bright lime green? I think you mentioned you do Camaro's somewhere as well. Are you on Camaro5? If so what's your username? Lots of questions, thanks in advance!

I've got golds but no orange golds.

Yes, I am on C5 as Mike. I only post in my one thread in the vendor classifieds though.

Damn Mike... Seriously, all colors look hot. I'm definately interested in the Akebono Logo. I wouldn't know whether to choose red or do you do orange? PM me a quote when you have time Mike. :)

Still lovin' mine.
The guys at the dealer asked me where I got 40th Anniversary calipers. Mission accomplished.

since Mike i believe is flyin or out of town,

He doesnt have Brembo gold. No powdercoater maker will make that color. He stated he has some that are similar / close.

Does anyone know if the existing "Nissan" Akebono brakes are painted on the sports package brakes? Mine are currently Metallic Silverish Grey, stock sports brakes and I'd liket o powder coat them red (just like the 40th Anniversary Edition) and possibly put the "Nissan" logo back on.

However, I will be doing track so are you saying that could potentially be an issue? Has anyone have problem with that? Should I have a concern?

Is the OEM factory 40th Anniversary Edition Calipers painted and not powdercoated Red?

Another question is the logo a decal? is it applied before or underneath a clear coat? I can't seem to see the seam of the existing logo.

Mike 04-25-2012 10:32 AM

I would recommend against powdercoating if you are going to track, especially with this car in particular, as the brakes get extremely hot. I'm not sure what Nissan uses from the factory on them. On mine, the logos are usually a sticker, applied under the clearcoat, except in the case of some colors where the base color bleeds into the vinyl when clearcoated.

This is how hot mine got one time, enough to discolor and even partially melt the powdercoat on my wheel, The orange vinyl on the stock caliper held up fine, remarkably.

Wow, so the sticker can withstand hi-temp but not powercoat? I just powder coated my rims and I do tracking, hopefully that wouldn't be an issue.

I wonder if the OEM factory Red calipers from Nissan are painted then. If I have my brakes painted from the place that powder coat my wheels, will you be able to sell the "Nissan" Logo stickers by itself?

Mike 04-25-2012 12:56 PM

It all depends how hard you are on the brakes. I'm really agressive and an advanced level driver, so I beat them pretty good. I can sell you stickers
