I was thinking the same thing, any fix for the slack? Perhaps change the helper spring?

I'm not sure but I think I'm gonna try to cut the old spring into 1/8 and press it in which will add more tension and hopefully fix that gap issue I duno

Oh yeah recieved my spring today.

You don't need to remove the top pin, just the lower. Pull the c-clip, push the pedal to the floor and pull the pin.

atl370z 07-28-2011 06:48 AM

I am still waiting for mine:ughdance:

In some cases the bottom pin barely came out and then would be a nightmare trying to get back in, the top pin doesn't seem to have this issue but its harder to get to.

My bottom pin wouldnt budge so i decided to pull the top out. I carelessly dropped it over the other side. Is there a way to get it out?

NewYorkJon34 07-28-2011 01:52 PM

Waiting for mine as well

If you mean that it fell on the other side of the plastic kick panel, then just pull up gently on the sill plate to remove it, then remove the plastic nut that is holding the rear of the kick panel, then just pull the kick panel off.

interested. still available??

bluenoser 08-04-2011 12:28 AM

Hey, I don't know where you're getting these springs but have you checked out this place? Compression Springs - Custom Springs | Lee Spring

They have a spring on there that matches the stock one very closely (p/n LHC 177N 03M) as well as various others that would fit at reduced spring rates.

I'm still interested if you have any of yours left. The leespring place is kind of pricey for very small orders

Vaughanabe13 08-04-2011 08:39 AM

I'm also interested in the spring and PMed.

SPOHN 08-04-2011 11:23 AM

What a great mod. Really have had a great chance to enjoy it all week.

BrickyardZ 08-04-2011 11:40 AM

I am interested and sent you two PMs with no response. Please add me to the list.

Clutch Spring Pedal Play Problem Solved!!!

1 Attachment(s)
Two things, the new spring works like a charm and I found a way to take the play out!:ughdance:
If you look at the top bump stop for the clutch pedal assembly, you will see a bracket above where the white bump stop rests, housed in this bracket is a black square module with a black pin sticking out of it. In front of that black square module is a lock nut (see attached pic). I used a 14mm open head wrench (not an exact fit, but it worked) to loosen, once this is done, you can turn the black square module to protrude further down in the bracket. Once this is done tighten the nut back up, no more play. I will say that this is a royal pain in the @$$, not much room at all.

1. Find the top bump stop bracket, loosen the nut in front of the black square module.

2. Disconnect attached wire to prevent the wire from "bunching".

3. Turn black square module, (I believe clockwise) it took me 2 full turns to get the play out.

3. Depress clutch pedal and reset against bump stop to ensure play is gone.

4. Repeat step 2 if necessary.

5. Tighten nut.

6. Take her for a spin and enjoy!

Please see pic of bracket assembly, this will get you on your way.

V.

actually, guy posted on 7/26/11 that he had ten left due to people flaking out. we're checking to see if those are still available or not.

bluenoser 08-05-2011 01:26 AM

I just ordered one from Fastenal (p/n 0166722). It's the right size and the spring rate is about 25% of stock for anyone who missed out on the buy

I'll post some pics when it arrives. The critical dimensions all match up though. The stock spring is about 230-250 lbs/in so the new 55 lbs/in spring should be similar to running without it.

Hope this spring from fastenal works out! I have a connection at a local fastenal for me. I'll get him to look into prices for various quantities!
