GB: SuckerPunch Motorsports Oil Pump Upgrade

SuckerPunch Motorsports LLC Billet HR/VHR Oil Pump with Billet Gears and Billet Back Plate

For some time now(OVER A YEAR), We've been working on coming up with a solution for oil pump gears, that would handle higher RPMS and create less cavitation. With not many complete options available for the VQ motors, we decided it was time to get busy. We started with a Nismo pump and an OEM pump, so we could make sure that, we were offering the best oil pump on the market.

Finally, we are ready to release this solution to you.

Gear Details:
* Drop in
* Hardness of gears is twice that of stock gears, and not brittle like other gears on the market
* RPM Range: 8500RPMS (With supporting internals of course), same gears running 8600rpm at 6bar of pressure in a road race build currently.
* Billet Heat Treated Hardened 17-4 Stainless Steel
* Moly Ceramic Dry Film Lubricant Coating
* Tolerances within .0005" of the original gear.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Back Plate Details:
* Bolt on
* 7075 Aluminum
* Eliminates the flex
* Brand Logo, for authenticity
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oil Pump Details
* Helps Eliminate cavitation during higher rpms.
* Better flow with ~10% increase
* Larger Volume of flow throughout the rpms, stock held around 5" of vacuum, whereas after modifications,the pump held 20" of vacuum.

Config : DE/HR/VHR oil pump modified w/ billet gears and billet back plate(only HR and VHR) Group Buy: $1150

As you can see in the pictures, this is a finished product.

Thanks for the support and the patience!

Regards,
Jeremiah

I'm thinking about option #3 at the moment. I'm not planning to pull my engine any time soon, but this is something I want to drop in next time I do.

I hear you man. Better to have it now and ready for when you do pull the engine. Just let me know when you're ready and I'll have one ready for you.

Is this going to be available after the group buy ends? I'd like to jump in now, but I've got to see how deep the IRS is going to jam it in me before I commit to spending any money.

Same here :rolleyes:

Interested but currently I am not ready to do it. And will look at option #3 when I am ready to pull the trigger.

Will option #3 perform better than Nismo oil pump?

That really depends on how well these sale. However, you will save $130 getting it now vs waiting. You know your situation better than I, so I don't want to push you into buying if you're not ready. I understand other parts of the build can be more important at a particular time.

We used a Nismo pump as our base. To be honest with you, there is no difference other than gears for the Nismo model compare to base pump. So guys running the Nismo pump are paying almost $1k just for gears and name.

Advantages over Nismo are as follows:

1. Your getting more for your money.
2. The material used for the Nismo pump is still not as strong as the material we use.
3. You get a billet backplate to eliminate any flexing under higher pressure, also a better seal.
4. Gears are treated so that they give better performance in the pump and also protection against each other for running on each other for periods of time.
5. The pump is actually modified to accommodate the gears. Not modified to make the gears work, but so that you get the best outcome from running the gears and pump together.

Hope that helps some.

Quick update, we are almost sold out and will be doing another run after the 350z gears. The inventory I have left, is still $820 for gears and back plate.

How many do you have left? I've been working on other aspects of my car for the upcoming season and need to see if i can squeeze one into the budget in time. I've only bugged you about it forever lol

All good man haha. Definitely understand trying to get everything situated and the budget set for the upcoming build. I believe we have 2 or 3 left, I'll have to double check to make sure.
