rear bumper exhaust stains
Any body else have problems with their rear bumpers getting discolored because of the exhaust? Its really noticeable on my pearl white. Every 2 weeks or so I have to polish out the bottom portions of my bumper because they're all stained brown. Only thing I can think of to stop it is maybe put a cat back in somewhere in the exhaust.
|
Are you running a stock exhaust setup now? I could see that being more noticeable if you were to remove cats or create more air flow
|
That's why so many pw owners get a diffuser or paint that section black.
|
I run rich so my PW rear always is dirty. It doesn't help that I don't have cats either
|
Got LTH's with no cats. I use wheel cleaner for painted rims to wash off the stain. ;)

Glad I'm not the only one w/ dirty butt. I have a carbon diffuser covering up the lower section but the rest of the lower bumper gets brown stained bad....almost makes me want to put cats back in :P

Junkman may have some tips on how to clean and prevent the staining.

Sounds to me like you need to drive faster so you can out run the exhaust...

i would try coating it, eg quartz coating or some kind of ceramic coating so it washes off easily.
definitely avoid wheel cleaner on your paint! |
I've tried Sonax polymer net shield, Adams quick sealant, Adams Liquid Paint Sealant, NanoSkin sealant...couple waxes. Nothing prevents the browning. I always have to polish the brown out with a polish either by hand or porter cable. I'll take some pics to better show what I'm talking about.

Mild dish detergent, microfiber cloth and elbow grease.. Does the trick every time (;
BTW theres no sealant or wax that will stop the browning.. Ive found that the browning is actually absorbed more when there is plenty of wax on my bumper, but I still want that layer of protection from the wax there.. |
I'm thinking about having the diffuser vinyl wrapped in black...

I spent a couple hours two weeks or so ago cleaning up this same issue. Clay bar did wonders for it dan! looks like a silver bumper again thank the lord
|
For some reason clay doesn't work in my situation...tried clay and nanoskin nanoscrub. Polish or compound and elbow grease is the only thing that works for me so far. I'll take pics as soon as it builds up again.

I notice that when I was at Z nationals washing my car lol...i was like how the hell did I get that??
