Belt slip much?

We installed the AEM boost gauge today and while testing we noticed that up top the boost was dropping from 7/8/9 psi down to 2 or 4 psi randomly. This got me thinking belt slip and I found this.

Any ideas what might cause it? We are running the Stillen 9lb pullley and a 7PK2635 belt, Gate Micro-V Horizon. I have a feeling its a combination of the smaller pulley not being shot blasted for grip and the Gates Horizon belt.

Would a Micro-V AT or Micro-V XF belt be better for grip?

Does anyone have the part number for that 7 rib idler pulley? We have noticed that one has play in it.

I was running the entire serpantine setup that comes with the Stillen kit and it did not slip until about 15 psi. I realize that's not much help, but the belt and pulleys Stillen provides should not slip at 9 psi if setup properly.

Im thinking it could be possible that its the difference between the Gates Micro-V Horizon (which is currently on it and slipping) and the supplied Gates Micro-V AT.

If I could find a Micro-V AT in a 2635 length I would be onto a winner. I just felt that the supplied belt was too long with the 9lb pulley which we installed after the initial install.

when i had my mustang i went to a 10-rib and my slipping problem was completely cured

I still think there is another problem. Nobody else has belt slip at 8-9 psi.

aligment if your getting slippage at low boost or could be something as simple as the bracket flexing

Something I brought up in their other thread, I had zero slip at 12 psi.

I had some bracket flexing at 13.5 psi, but it built psi/hp (no slip) all the way to redline. There was belt slip from 6700 rpms to redline after I upgraded to the SI impeller, but the psi held steady at 15 psi from 6700 to 7700 rpms. JTran built me a bracket to stop the flexing, but I never got the chance to try it out.
