Just posting it up to skew the statistics, I bet for every blown motor from boost there is another one that nissan just F'd up. Just saying its a good idea for a thread, nice to get it out there just that we need to take it with a grain of salt. I'm the only reply too so problems lol?

11 PSI car ran fine tell one day I was racing and it started smoking it continued to get worse over the course of 2 weeks. Once I got the motor out and took it to my machinist after it was torn down it was confirmed cylinder number 2 piston ring let go.

Glad to hear it Tony, Trips sent me a message asking I had a problem with him changing the title and it took me a min before I realized why he was asking.

we should just change the abbreviation for fast intenitions from FI to just Fast or something.

I doubt it I am not the only Stillen kit that let go I know of 4 motors that had the same issue when pushing the kit hard.

Also previous history of the car. A car that was problematic prior to installing FI is less likely to survive.

No blowing a second ring sounds like the boost was getting trapped in the rings which leads to fluttering and cracking ring lands, that or that wasn't an issue and the shiz just let go, who knows?

was this on the stillen tune or custom tune? I'm probably heading down the stillen path and would like to avoid this if at all possible haha, I'll be getting mine custom tuned from the get-go

In my honest opinion I think my motor let go from being pushed to hard on a kit that wasn't designed to be pushed. I think the car ran hot , one major design flaw in the kit is MAF location. The stock MAF's have to be relocated with this kit to the front bumper and uprev uses IAT's for ignition timing. Also the heat exchanger is very small I really don't think it cools enough. Like I said before I know a few that blew one of them is on this forum name is Nissan370. He was pushing his Stillen kit hard as well and it now he has a built motor like my self.
