Stillen supercharger kit

Hello guys,
ive made decision to go buy stillen supercharger kit mainly because GTM are not reliable anymore. I think i will be fine with this kit.
My problem is that i cant find tuner here in my country so, with my ark exaust and berk hfcs do you think the car will run fine after the supercharger install and base map provided by stillen?if not, what problems should i expect?
Also what gains should i expect with my current setup + the stillen s/c kit?
And what oil cooler do you reccomend?

Hey,

The STILLEN kit must necessarily be tuned by a professional.
If you do not opportunity in Macedonia for the installation and tuning, then let it rather stay.

I know of only one tuner of this kit in Europe already knows.
Roman Ritzmann from Chip-Racing in Switzerland.

Ask him and tell him a greeting from me :tiphat:

I agree with swiss, you need to get a professional tune. The base tunes you get from GTM/Stillen/etc really are just to get you to the dyno really.

Your best bet is to either visit chip-racing per swiss, or see if you can do remote tuning with someone. This requires your car to be on a dyno and a laptop which can allow the tuner in and make adjustments remotely.

If you can't do remote tuning or find someone to custom tune the car at all, forget about Stillen. Their canned tune is awful. You would be better off not supercharging the car at all as opposed to running their tune. Plus, you may have different fuel than the base map accounts for.

can you reccomend good tuner/tunning house in Germany?

ANMVQ 04-24-2014 09:05 AM

They guys have said already but , If you can not tune the car don't waste you $$, The can tune SUX, It will make NO power, You will have hot start issues. Check the UPREV site to see where there tuners are. To be honest Id be surprised if the car even starts on the can tune you'll get. Mine didn't :/ They had to go back and forth with Still for a week to get the hot start issue solved.

Heres what I found

I tried the canned tune also and the car ran horrible, after a custom tune I love the Stillen Supercharger. Find a tuner before you ever consider buying the SC or your in for some frustrating times with your car.

I talked with good mechanic here in my country and he persuaded me not to go with forced induction just because we dont have tunner here in my country.so now i will try to squeeze every hp of my N/A engine :D. Next mods on my list are PPE Long Tube Racing Headers, Motordyne manifold, NST Pulleys :D if there are some other power mods that i am missing tell me :D

theDreamer 04-24-2014 03:32 PM

For NA power:
-Full exhaust
-LTH or Z1 short headers with DE test pipes
-Pullies
-Manifold but might hold off on that one for now
-Clutch/flywheel will free up some unsprung weight

Also look at making the car a little lighter to improve performance, also note that the farther you get into modding your car even NA you will need a solid tune also.

A little off topic here with with Stillen SC...but why don't they fix the problems with the kit and introduce a v2 like BP is going to do? Sure it would cost more but they could steal GTM's SC customers easily.

The main problem from the start was always just the canned tune, many tried to run it because with it came a warranty and CARB cert. Once people got a custom tune almost all problems were solved.
Now I would say a v2 would be a good idea and they could mirror what some of the owners here have done to improve upon the kit.

If you have the patience, you can buy the "Tuner Kit" and then get your own Uprev Liscense. There are plenty of shops that can tune your car via email. You'll just run data logs in Uprev, email them to a shop, then they can make necessary adjustments to a base tune they will provide you. Just pick a shop that has a lot of experience with the Stillen kit, and who answers the phone every time you call. Think of a reason to have about 5 conversations with the tuner before you ever buy anything, that will be enough time for you to figure out what kind of people they are. Remember, you will likely be at their mercy for a few weeks minimum.

You will have to do the same thing if you go the "full-bolt-on" N/A route. The car will not run right without a tune. I've seen dynos of cars running dangerously lean AFRs with bolt-ons and no tune.

My guess is because the are a Cali company and all the CARB crap they have to do. They offered my a 9 lb pulley at one point so they do have at least that upgrade but don't seem to advertise it.

I know Stillen has spent a lot of time in development in New Zealand...

Damn guess you really didn't want it or that guy sold you a box of goods :)
The two places I found where 600 miles away ? I know not close but they could tune the car via email- I'm doing that with my car , tuner is 300+ miles away .
You send them logs they adjust , send then back ? No fast but will work for sure .
