Haha are you implying I'm going to blow my mani up next O&G!? Lolollll :D I really don't want to find out honestly so hopefully Charles can get his banged out soon. Do you know anything about these HTA compressor wheel upgrades by chance man? I'm looking all over for info on them but Jesus I can't find ANYTHING. Just a bunch of Audi guys looking to push their little single turbo kits and some snowmobile guys looking to boost their sleds. Someone in the performance industry has to have used this thing.

If your staying twins go 10:1, I went 9:1 cause I'm on a 7065 single.

See idk what to do yet man. I want the torque and straight line power of a big single for highway rolls etc which is what I spend most of my enjoyment doing honestly. The way I see it that's really what any "weekend warrior" spends most time doing lol. At least that's the case for me though I can't really make a mass consensus off of just myself. But I do like the fast responsiveness of the twins sucks that you can't really have the best of both worlds but if I have to pick one ill probably lean towards the straight line power than the snap. I'm personally just happy to see people blowing past the "comfort zone" of this car and getting it out there and into new things

I don't know anyone else running 9:1 so it'll be nice to see how the car performs in the next week or so on some pump gas and hi boost! My tuner didn't want me to release one of the break in tunes he did on my car with timing adjustments, but I can tell you it was very impressive at just 16lbs of boost! I'll start a new thread on it when JTran gets verified as a forum sponsor, I got flagged for repping the shop too much! I'll also be taking it to a dynojet to get similar numbers to compare with everyone else as our Mustang dyno reads very low, we have to adjust to about 13-15% to get dynojet equivalent numbers.
And yes, I fall under the "weekend warrior" column! |
So at 800whp, is your plan to leave rubber trails everywhere you go?

This is his graph on E85 http://i1311.photobucket.com/albums/...psb7a47d62.jpg Now remember the HTA2868 is rated right around the same hp per turbo 480 hp /48lbs min of air as the GT3071/GTX2867 but will be more efficient at higher pressure ratio. This is because of the billet turbo wheel the same can be said for GTX2867. Now the HTA 2868 with Alpha compressor cover should flow a little more and be more efficient. Here's another chart of GTX 2867 GTR on E85 http://i1311.photobucket.com/albums/...psa79ce4f4.jpg The one thing that is common between the two cars is the is the boost is dropping off up top . Looking at the compressor chart shows that the GTX2867 and GT3071 are at there peak the HTA 2868 will be in the same boat. Hope this all makes since and helps you out. |
Your wealth of knowledge! It's astronomical cliff! Lol yes this gave me the answers I seek! I got both questions delt with in a timely manner even! Charles helped me seal the deal on compression and yourself on my path forward with the turbos. Thank you! All of you! Now I can continue with my build. I believe the HTA will be the most "cost effective" route per say to go being that to have both of my current turbos rebuilt would put me at only the cost of one brand new gt3071. I think I shall contact Dan with fast intentions as I believe tony is still on vacation to find out just how long the turn around time was on Djtodds HTA rebuilds. I don't quite have the 3000 for the alpha housings right now so for now ill stick to just the compressor wheel upgrade. I think that will give me the results I seek anyway. I'm not really trying to go a single hp over 800 Ill already need to invest in race logic as it is.

Squeeze do you think I can get buy with my full 2.5" F.I. CBE no res w/non res TPs for now or do I need to just cut my losses now, put it up for sale and use the money to get a turbo back 3" F.I.? Talking to John he thinks my exhaust will suffice for now but clearly ill want to upgrade it in the future to optimize the flow of my turbos

For your goals I really think all you need is HTA upgrade compressor wheel upgrade.Buying a new set of turbos is going to cost you $3000 this is the reason I recommended giving force performance a call they have been doing HTA turbos for years. I men't to ask you do you have external wastegates ? Quote:
I think you can get by with your exhaust for now tell you find the limit of it. |

Yeah I'm definitely going to send my turbos out to them hopefully their customer service has gotten a little better though as I am hearing a lot that they don't meet their 3-5 day turn around and pretty much tell you to kick rocks it will be at your door when it's there lol. I'm in no rush to get the build done; yeah I would like to have my car back but I want to do it right the first time and be done for a while. As of right now I'm on IWG's but for this build I will be building EWG's and running open dumps. We saw some slight boost creep when I was on the dyno with my IWG's and I think it was because I have a GTM gate on one turbo and an HKS on another. They are both "supposed" to be .4 bar but I wouldn't bet my life on it. |
Good to here that your swictching to external gates .Getting your build done right the first time around is the right thing to do .This is something I wish I did with my build my first time around.

Yeah John(tturbo370) told me the very same thing I guess you could say I've learned from observation watching you guys slowly over the last two years and some of the headaches y'all have dealt with. I'm just trying to steer clear of all that if I can help it. I know the process is never perfect but I think a little homework now will make all the difference in the end
