At this point I'm Disgusted.

String of bad luck bro. I hope they resolve it but fixing it at no cost.

they absolutely should have replaced it, but why is it leaking so badly? sounds like its damaged or theres a lack of RTV in the upper pan area somewhere

COSMO 08-18-2014 09:09 PM

Bobby offered to fix it and they would cover to transport it to vsr but at this point I don't feel too confident on too may things...

COSMO 08-18-2014 09:14 PM

You can actually see the rtv pushed out where it is connected so I think it's just a faulty seal. He tried to say that I should have noticed it and used my old rear main seal to into the new motor. At that point I went off.....

That's bad business practice.

Spooler 08-18-2014 09:50 PM

Shti for luck. Pull the tranny and get er done. Modifying cars can be a pain in the butt sometimes.

COSMO 08-19-2014 03:31 AM

Bobby at vsr is supposed to be arranging for transport to have my car shipped to the shop and will fix at no cost to me. Once this is done I will fly down and drive around FL to put break in the motor so he can tune the car with the 1000cc injectors. Right now I'm running the gtm base map with the 600cc injectors. I can tell you my next car will already be FI because this whole ordeal has costed me a lot of time and money with No happy ending thus far...

Infidel 08-19-2014 07:34 AM

"I can tell you my next car will already be FI because this whole ordeal has costed me a lot of time and money with No happy ending thus far..."

I know how you feel

COSMO 08-19-2014 07:56 AM

Infidel did they ever get you up and running?

ANMVQ 08-19-2014 07:58 AM

Mine will also, I know I didn't spend as much coin as you but the next car for me will also be FI.
Do not want to travel that road again. GL will come :)

COSMO 08-19-2014 08:00 AM

I can only think of what else they may have missed since they managed to miss a $20 seal costing me more time and money. My faith in vsr is diminishing fast.. It's now 8:00 a.m. my time and still no word from bobby..

Ouch! Its a little early for ball breaking man! That's more of a noon or later activity

MidnightBlueZ 08-19-2014 10:12 AM

Hate to hear about your experience man.. I know you've been down awhile. Also understand your disappointment and lack of faith with VSR as I'm sure Infidel does too. I myself have almost lost complete faith. My car will be going to either Z1 or Dynosty soon to diagnose the health of my engine and work out the bugs my car has had since I got back from Tampa. Hope your build ends up being solid, I however have a bad taste in my mouth at the moment with VSR. Time will tell what my situation will be. Best of luck!

TopgunZ 08-19-2014 10:59 AM

You guys stating your next car will already be FI, care to elaborate? Do you mean a factory fi or a modded car that has fi?

I don't understand that, this and that are entirely seperate issues, the rear main on this motor comes pre assembled into the rear cover how do you **** that up?

COSMO 08-19-2014 11:14 AM

A car that is Already Turbocharged. For me I'm referring to a gtr.. Waiting to hear from the transport anytime now but I'm thinking it will be tomorrow sometime before it is picked up.. The rear main seal on the 370z is a bit different than the 350z so the upper and lower oil pan should not have to be removed.. Will post up a pic..

Here is a pick on the engine stand but dummy me did not even notice it wasn't there..

Rid3_FaM0uS 08-19-2014 11:31 AM

so wait. the rear main was never installed in the rebuild!?

also the rear main does not come pre installed. front main maybe? the rear is a compression seal inserted after the main girdle and the short block halves are put together

Mine will be factor FI, Been looking at the 09+ C63 Sedan, S4 Sedan, or maybe the EAU Rouge( Q50) in a few years lots can change .

On topic its really not reassuring that they installed a motor with out looking at everything first? :shakes head:

They didn't install the engine, COSMO did. VSR just shipped him the 'completed' longblock

esfourteen 08-19-2014 02:57 PM

wow, yeah they most likely didn't include it because it doesnt come in the nissan engine gasket kit, but they still should have or at least told you that was missing. I can imagine if you've never seen a rear main seal you wouldn't even know it was missing.

COSMO 08-19-2014 04:05 PM

Still no word from the transport company.. The saga continues...

BBRSpeedWorks 08-19-2014 04:15 PM

i changed mine right be for i started my turbo build I just dropped the tranny and put the new one in with a socket and hammer...took about 2 hours for the job thats tranny out and back in....good luck hope everthing works out

elperuano 08-19-2014 04:51 PM

Damn sorry to hear your troubles Cosmo. Kinda sucks to read VSR has another 2 complaints in this thread. Was considering getting a tune from them.

COSMO 08-19-2014 05:52 PM

I learned when it rains it pours but I'm going to give vsr a chance to correct this and get me up and running.. Being self employed it actually cost me to take time and days at a time to work on my car...

COSMO 08-20-2014 08:03 PM

Vsr is going to have the car picked up this sat morning and they are supposed to install a rear main seal and break in the new motor they built, install the 1000cc injectors then tune it. Trust me people I'm very very skeptical but from this point on their @ss is on the line... Stay tuned..

BBRSpeedWorks 08-20-2014 08:10 PM

Good luck cosmo

Rusty 08-20-2014 08:59 PM

After this. I wouldn't blame you for wanting to chew on the end of a gun barrel. :icon14: But please don't!

Nixlimited 08-20-2014 09:20 PM

Good luck man! I think 2015 is going to be your and my year for the Z.

COSMO 08-20-2014 09:31 PM

I hope your right my friend...:tup:

How did that happen ???

COSMO 08-21-2014 10:52 AM

Sorry to hear that. Did you buy bad gas somewhere or what? I can tell you when I get mine back I will not be running mine when the heat index is 110 degrees....

I was feeling the same way when my Stillen build started to run way over what I had planned as far as time and money but it was well worth it when it was done, then felt that way AGAIN when I blew my motor due to my own idiocy.

But now going back together with a new built block it's so well worth it again, you'll get that feeling back once you get over the humps.

I'm in the same situation as you are ... I'm on "Build (Again) #2" - but this time starting off with a built motor...
Got pretty bummed when the motor blew after the 1st build, trying to eek out more performance from the Stillen kit.

The Stillen kit worked pretty good until I got that itchin' for more speed at the track.

I'm working on putting up a thread/post detailing the trials and tribulations I've had to face and overcome along the way.
It is kind of funny in a way tho'
