Well just made in and trust me 6 hours in a 20' uhaul truck sucks @ss. It was either listening to country or christmas music. Needless to say I chose Christmas music and now I cant get it out of my head. @#$%^&* Taking a shot and going to bed, will post more tomorrow...... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Geez! That's terrible. I know it's nice to enjoy boost here and there. I typically have mine around 9 PSI, but it doesn't see that much boost often. Usually no more than 5-7 PSI, but that's half throttle. There's a guy at works who thinks I'm afraid to break things because of the way I drive, but it's really how I drive O_o

Im at 12 lbs. Only 1 map. This car rapes. Proper install and re-check and then good tune is all u need. Im at 12 lbs considered to be the max we should run since I put down 534/500.

I'm maxxed out on the fuel system. With upgraded fuel system this motor might be able to hold more.

Good luck cosmo, at least know u can go for some big power with a built block!

faceglide 11-19-2013 12:08 AM

Tough luck :(

My condolences to you and your car....it deserves a built block NOW! :nutswinger:

Should have a forum pool on diagnosis.

I'm betting on existing damage from detonation related to overboost from EBC and old tune. But hey, it could have just been a pineapple :stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot::stirthepot: :tiphat:

I've done that ride earlier this summer with mine. 6hr trip from Ocean City Md. to home with a U-haul and trailer. Because of a fuel line in the tank that popped off. No fun. I feel your pain. :(

I'm hoping it's something minor.

In for more info. I've seen you've had the kit installed at least a week from another thread. Curious of the older map, boost, etc.

And PS **** happens. I remember a WRX member that he or a shop or someone somehow left a nut in the manifold somehow and boom after a week or so. Found it during the tear down. It all gets worked out somehow but I know its rough. Sorry.

Leakdown? Compression test? Symptoms? What exactly broke? Spun rod bearing? Cracked ringland? Melted piston crown? What happened?

If you are still mobile I'm guessing either a cracked ring land or bad bearing and rod knock, but otherwise its still running...?

Not sure where to begin but here goes. This is my third boosted z for starters. My first was a 350z with the aps TT kit. Blew the stock motor on that and went with a built block, sold the car shortly after due to a bad divorce and the car is still running great. On my 370z I went with the gtm stage II TT kit and wanted to just stay with the stock block due to saving to buy another house. I installed the kit myself and took a lot of time doing the install so their were no mistakes. The car has ran great since the install with zero problems to speak of. To be honest the only thing I can think of is when I bought a boost controller I was having boost issues. The car was hitting 20psi of boost until I found the problem. Again no signs of any issues or noises. I drove the car to dallas and back for the clutch install and last weekend took a trip to the mountains with zero problems. At this point my guess is that when the car was overboosting is must have weakend one of the rods and when john from z1 was tuning it finally gave. I will post pictures but it looks like cylinder #5. To any of you guys about to go FI you better have some dough ready for when this kinda thing may happen. These engine are strong from the factory but are not made for boost. I do not blame Z1 for what happened and do not blame anyone. Its tough to watch your car blow a motor but the way I look at it there are a lot more things in this world to have to worry about like health issues in such. John from z1 is going to work me up a price for a short block and after everything is re-built I do plan on going back to z1 for another tune. My goal now is to shoot for 600whp since I have the stage II kit so I will need some advice from you guys who have actually tested those waters.
Thanks again for the help and kind words.. And spohn I still just don't know about you and john from z1 agrees your one odd cat. lol :) pics very soon!!!
