Intercooler Powder Coating?

Iam considering having my gtm intercooler powder coated and wanted to know if anyone else has done this and would it have any adverse effects on the cooling fins doing their job?

To thick. Would bring down cooling. Anodize it or maybe a paint that disapates heat.

That's what I was think too about the paint but just wanted to be sure... Thanks

Eastwood radiator paint. Either that or a thermal dispersant coating. GTM offers one, but I'm sure there's a ton of places out there that will put it on.

I've powdercoated intercoolers before. No problem doing it if the coater knows what he is doing.

Just about any coating will decrease heat transfer. Try to find a coating with high thermal conductivity.

Just leave it as it is.

The thermal dispersant coatings are said to increase heat transfer, but I have no idea if it is in any way noticeable outside of a lab. I just did it so the intercooler would be black.

I hadn't heard of thermal dispersant coatings. Neat stuff. If one can handle the cost, they look like the best option available. If you're going that far, might as well ceramic-coat the exhaust manifolds too. :driving:

I had GTM do it. I had them CC the hot parts as well. Money well spent on a car that runs this hot. Cost wasn't too bad on either.

I'm gonna do my intercooler black as well. I'm a huge fan of keeping temps cool, too. I might just heat wrap everything I can, lol.. lower intake and fuel temps = MOAR POWAR. From my race team days, dudes would even go as far as to pack dry ice around fuel cells. Lol

I want my FMIC to be the same color as the Akebonos, so I was hoping to get a hold of anodizing company unless someone has another idea on how to match???

I live in Georgia and I don't have any of that stuff on my car, where is the excessive heat coming from cause I don't have these issues.

In my case, from stuffing turbos in there.
