Anyone know if the bouncing idle is normal with the oil pressure bouncing and a/f bouncing like that?

GaleForce 10-06-2013 01:19 PM

I haven't noticed my tach moving like that during idle. Honestly I don't pay attention to it during idle, I listen to the car instead. My oil pressure is rock solid once the car is warm, higher at highway speeds 350kpa and lower 150kpa at idle (normal) . A/F fluctuates during idle (normal).

The only reason why I noticed the jump was after noticing that the sound of the exhaust was jumping up and down.

I hope a tune fixes this.

Is it possible that I am still not running enough oil? The dip stick shows the oil level is about 2-3mm from the top dot and that is after the car is warmed up and driven.

Thanks

George, email me a 30 second log at idle and I will get it looked at.

Scheduled tune on Nov 15.

Also custom gauge mount in the center cubby hole.

Got it done over in Project X customs. It still has a little fitment issue, nothing major. Just need to have material added on the bottom to make it look flush.

wagz 11-13-2013 10:43 PM

Everything looks great Cell. Well done and make sure to provide long term impressions.

Car made 501 at 11.5 psi. 490 at 10 psi. This was on a dynojet.

The readings for the torque/rpm broke. Will have to go back another day for that.

Nice Cell!!!

I am the one from chicagoz that got you looking into this kit if i remember correctly. The turn out looks great!!! I knew this kit would be perfect for your goals that you had. I am sure i will see you cruising or at a meet in the spring!!

Interested in the torque curve also. Want to compare it to charles with the greddy TT curve.

I think I am not the same person you were talking to in Chicagoz? Anyways I do look forward to going back for a dyno run sometime in the spring.

Nice numbers, throwing you on the finished build list, if you get the TQ numbers ever let me know.
Adding your 501 at 11.5 right now.

After installing the kit by yourself, do you think it will fit on a right hand drive car?

From looking at the pictures it looks like most of the piping is under the car from the headers to the rear.

My concern is the piping from the intercooler to the turbo.

Honestly, I don't know. I have never seen a right hand drive 370z.

How was the installation? How long did it take you to do it? On the scale 1 to 10, what would you rate the difficulty to install this kit at? I am debating between this kit and GTM twin turbo kit :)

I would say maybe a 5-6 out of 10 for the install. Maybe even a 4-5. It was really simple. Just a bunch of bolts and screws.

Hardest part was removing the demon bolts and aligning the turbo. If I did not have to align the turbo and remove the demon bolts, the install would of been a 4 out of 10.

The install took around 90 hours including the installation of gauges.

Key thing is patience and tolerating the fact that you have to run back to the hardware store multiple times.

The GTM kit will be more difficult because of space constraints and you will have to deal with the steering knuckle.

Go with the GTM kit if you want twins and if you are willing to wait.

Go with the BP kit if you don't want to wait and you will have a lot less headaches with the install.

Quality wise, I truly believe BP has GTM beat when it comes to quality. So far no one has had cracking issues with the twin scroll headers.

Have a look at the installation manual: Boosted Performance Instructions

It will give you a good idea on what is involved...I am sure Cell will tell you as well from a personal experience point of view.

khanhvu411 01-02-2014 09:22 AM

Much appreciated. I am waiting for the tax return and crunching numbers lol :)

hmm odd

ever get the surging idle figured out? oil psi, and a/f will bounce like that when the idle is surging. was it the tune, or do you know yet?

Tune issue. Once I got on the dyno and had it custom tuned, it fixed it.

1cleanZ 10-16-2015 12:53 PM

Any updates on this build? I actually saw your car on the lift at PX for an oil change.

norris_83 10-16-2015 05:52 PM

mind if you take a pic of your engine bay with everything installed. Did you manage to put your engine covers back on?

EVOHUNTER 10-17-2015 09:24 AM

don't change out your factory gauges, don't get me wrong it looks clean.

but you wont beable to use ECUTEK, as it overrides your factory gauges.

something to think about. ECUTEK is a really good program!

Hotrodz 10-17-2015 10:28 AM

I agree, if you want other gauges get a custom gauge pillar from Galeforce!

I actually got all the stainless steal oil lines and AN fittings all replaced. I received teh old fittings that were cheaply made and leaked oil. So I mind as well do an oil change too.

PX does great work but sadly they are closing down. Some of the guys will still be doing work on the side though.
