Does obd2 stuff show boost on FI apps?

Can you pull boost from OBD2 style gauges? I know some guys run them in other cars, but not sure if you can in ours

I'm trying to keep the number of gauges to a minimum. If it works and is accurate, I'll run a multi boost/AFR gauge thru OBD2 and a separate oil press one

Sub'd for the right answer

IIRC, one of the standard Mode 1 PIDs is intake MAP but the 370Z doesn't report it. I assume the ECU has that info and it's just a matter of knowing how to ask for it.

I do not believe so. Even if it was possible, I don't know if I would want to trust it over a good quality, aftermarket gauge.

Yes, there is a built in PID for boost/vac as a standard parameter in the Torque app. It still runs on N/A cars, just with vacuum (obviously).

What he said...

Thanks for the help

That's what I figured, since they advertise most of those obd2 products as being able to show vacuum and boost I wanted to double check.

I'm gonna just run a boost/oil pres 2in1 gauge and a separate small rectangle AFR gauge then. keeps things tidy and I don't have to rip my dash apart:tup:

I have a PLX Kiwi WiFI module with my iPad using DashCommand.....it reads something in the "boost" section but the numbers are way off; showing super high as compared to the Defi gauge. My boost is set at 10psi, but the DashCommand/PLX set up is showing like in the 20s.

Is it 1 bar (14psi) high?

FireDan50 09-12-2013 02:25 PM

I'll have to double-check the numbers on the dash command next time I'm out with the car. I just remember having it on and seeing way high psi numbers that did not match up with the Defi gauge.

Since it's not used to positive pressure, could it be reading atmospheric pressure+boost level?

hmm that could be the case. or its just totally confused

I think I'm going to run a Defi red racer on the pillar, and an aerotech analogic w/ oil pres and AFR right above it. warning lights for both afr and oil pres with that one too. pricey, but keeps it tidy and i still get that sexy, sexy defi boost gauge <3

mfeinst 09-13-2013 12:01 PM

Yeah, I'm gonna get Defi gauges because they're Defi gauges. Advance C2 ones are gorgeous but $$$$$

FireDan50 09-13-2013 12:43 PM

Just confirmed my PLX wifi/Dash Command set-up does not work with boost. The difference in boost pressure and vacuum is totally different than what my Defi gauge is showing; its showing both higher and lower measurements and totally not right. Everything else is good so far; IAT, water temps, etc.

future370zzz 09-13-2013 02:48 PM

Planning on running the PLX Multiguage display with boost, AFR and trans temp modules installed in the stock clock location. Much cheaper to install then 3 separate gauges in the stock location.
