Serpentine belt on GTM SC Stage 1

Does anyone have some insight or is this just an anomaly? I checked all of the idlers, the OEM tensioner, and the accessories and could not find anything out of the ordinary. Has anyone else had a problem with the serpentine belt?

I found these pieces of belt when I performed an oil change back on the 4th. It all fell out after removing the undertray.

So I ordered a replacement belt from GTM and installed it today along with a lot of other maintenance.

Here are shots of the belt that I removed:

I bet it is just the belt mine didn't fall apart like that.

How many miles on it?

Plus you can get that belt a lot cheaper else where.

20k miles on the belt. It was installed in August of 2011 so 20k miles in 23 months.

Yeah, I got one from GTM and a spare from an online source.

I just had this belt replaced a few weeks ago (NAPA Auto parts), but mine didn't look as bad as yours. My shop here in San Antonio recommended that I replace this belt every six months.

:iagree: 6 months maybe a tad early, but a year tops, especially in the heat of TX

My snapped after 2 years and 30k miles, it is now on the list to do every 20-25k miles max.

Thanks

Yeah, that is the change interval I have settled on. Plus, I will always keep a spare on hand.

Anyone have the belt info handy? You have inspired my to get a spare.

Thanks Dreamer.

Recently my charger has been Whistling/whining louder than normal. The fluid level and belt are decent. Could it just be the heat? Has anyone else noticed this?

theDreamer 07-18-2013 09:13 AM

Could be the heat, how many miles & how long have you had the kit on for?
Just because the fluid level is 'normal' it might be getting old and needs to be replaced. I have a bottle sitting next to me right now, and need to drain & refill mine.

Mine make noise when warming up , it sounds like a whuring type noise but it goes away when it warms up.

I have just under 2 years and about 15k miles on the kit. I need to take my bumper off and clean my BPV, readjust it. I get a slight knock from it occasionally while cruising.
