another greddy TT video
saw the other one posted here and it reminded me i should pull one off my phone that was there since last fall i believe.
at the 7.5psi in the video, it did 524rwhp (i think it was)... but that was on a hot day. i can see on my cluster there that it was like 40 degrees out on this pull, so its likely the car was making quite a bit more power... especially since i have found that my car is especially temperature picky with my aggressive ignition timing. sometimes i run it 8.5-10psi boost, but if its not nice and cool out, it must be knock feedback that causes it to pull out so much timing that it feels like its making 450rwhp (unfortunately i have no way of logging knock, but i can watch it pull the timing out and i have reason to believe it is from knock)... unless its nice and cool out, then it keeps all my timing and I suspect it to be around 600rwhp or possibly a few more. i have intentions to get it on a dyno on a cool night here hopefully soon to verify my suspicions and work on my timing map (this is the only car I ever tuned with Osiris). Considering swapping out for the DSS pro axles for this coming fall so that once it starts cooling off during the day, i would like to go claim that first stock engine 10 second pass that nobody has gone after yet. I recommend E85 if it is available to you... it compliments the stock engine internals well by being extremely knock resistant. The VHR is still just a VQ, the internals appear pretty fragile. It is my belief that we see less VHR failure than DE failure mostly due to the more advanced engine control. Trust me, my stock engine would have blown long ago with my crappy timing map if it wasn't so "aware". If I still did tuning for customers, i would refine the map a lot more... but I am pretty careless when it comes to my own personal stuff! |
The Uprev software has treated me and my engine well. That said, I have been curious about the new EcuTek software, only because my impressions are telling me that it appears they have changed the tuning format to be more traditional, where the Uprev software is keeping the proprietary Nissan format while "unlocking" the required maps.
I feel there are things to appreciate about both methods. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have standard format ignition timing tables for my engine. But I do wonder if the advanced feedback compensations of the OEM system will be retained with this software? Will the knock feedback still work so incredibly well? Will the VVEL system integration still be entirely seamless for the driver? |
525whp on a stock block? very nice! video is awesome as well  keep it up.

Good video, on the tuning choices I am still waiting.
I am sure ECUteck will be great for our platform but still to soon to judge. Also I like Uprev's approach by keeping the ECU spec the same and just modifying what is needed. Also on the E85 stuff, good options in Houston to fill up with E85 but do you feel you have lost anything by making the switch? I know MPG is not a huge case for many but can be hurtful if you are DD (such as I am). |
That thing pulls hard...

nice keep it up , you should get toyo r888 and a quafe differential , the car totally changed :P

Awesome video and car. I always loved Greddy but the prices were just to high for me.

When I run the boost in the 9-10psi and don't get any timing getting pulled, based on how much harder it pulls and based on my friends cars that it stays next to, I am pretty sure it's more like 600rwhp but it's only speculation until I get it on the dyno again. |

The stock fuel gauge calibration sucks bad though. When it says half tank left, that means 1/3 at best. The second half of the tank according to the gauge, burns so damn fast that I better be headed to an e85 station pretty quick. |

I'm not sure i will change out the diff. The stocker seems to never give me 1 wheel wonder unless I am trying to turn and full throttle or do donuts. In total straight line, I always get even patches from both sides. |
Nice pull!

There's hardly any E85 places in GA. Especially where I live. |

Put some rods and pistons in there and roll around with 800whp. Was a pleasure talking to you today thanks for the information today. |
