Help please GTM Supercharger install question.
Anyone, can you remove the passenger side motor mount without taking off the exhaust manafold?
Thanks |
No, it cannot be done easily and when you want to install the 1.5 GTM SC kit air intake tube and filter, it is so much easier when the exhaust manifold is removed.
Tip: you don't have to remove the catalytic convertor when removing the exhaust manifold. Remove it from the engine compartment from the bottom. |

You will need to separate the cat from the manifold b/c it is easier to install the intake pipe then the air cleaner then the exhaust manifold then the cat,the reason is it's a bitch to line up the air filter with the exhaust manifold and cat already in the car.

Next question, (this will never end) after some research on BOV's, it looks like we should be closed at idle. My valve will not a-just to closed, Turbosmart sells higher rate springs.
The only thing this should change is the hiss at idle and a small chance of intake charge contamination. In the GTM 1.0 you recycle the BOV air but in the 1.5 and 2.0 it is open. If you through a belt you would sucking in unfiltered air. I am going to put a small K&N on my valve and get the correct spring to close at idle. |
Nope they will be open at idle, you can adjust it alittle tighter so your boost/throttle response won't be lost.

No pulley for you

Putting a stiffer spring in the bypass valve will cause compressor surge since the charger would be trying to move a small amount of air at very high pressure ratios. Bad idea. The reason why a blow off valve on a turbo is closed at idle is simply due to the fact that at such low exhaust gas flow, the turbocharger is not spinning fast enough to even generate positive boost pressure at idle. |

Next question, seem I had more boost after the install than now, had 11, and now 9-10. I know the temp has an effect. I just checked all the clamps in the charge system and I did manage to tighten 4 of them. Not alot but a small leak would loose alot of pressure???
Car runs perfect and hits A/F targets, 10 degree temp rise How tight do yuo run your clamps? |
You hava pma!!!
