STS remote mount -attempt number 2

I will continue my problem solving here. My car is currently waiting to be looked at by RDZ on Monday.

I have read all your comments concerning the waste gate being set improperly or maybe I have the hoses routed to the wrong ports. I will have an update Monday.

if its creeping, it sounds like the wg will need to be tightened slightly.

He didn't send the installation instructions with the kit?

blackonorange 04-26-2013 01:11 PM

Yes I did

Nism0 04-26-2013 03:10 PM

blackonorange sent everything that comes with this kit including the manual. He has also stayed in contact with me this entire time walking me though various questions I had along the way. And I thank him for that very much.

As soon as the problem is found and fixed I will update the thread.

So here is the problem the other shop couldn't figure out.

The manual boost controller was closed so it wasn't allowing pressure to the waste gate. After properly adjusting it, here is the result...

I was told that is equivalent to 505 on a dyno jet.

Thank you to everyone at RDZ Motorsports for the help. It was a much better experience and finished MUCH quicker than the seven days it took the other place to leave me hanging.

Thank you

Torque seems a little low but good see you are starting to have success. I had a feeling it was the manual boost controller. Just a simple turn of the knob and problem should of been solved. I know it would of been nice if they would of put some number on that dial:tup:

I just read through the entire two threads and have to say three things.

First off...wow, how could any shop see over boosting and first check the boost controller? lol

Second, I have the STS turbo kit and it does have a few minor design issues. The oil cooler lines and the filter being in terrible spots are one. The basic kit comes with a intercooler that's too small but the upgraded intercooler option from them is perfect. And their coating on their upper intercooler pipes responds terrible to meth lol.

Lastly, I love my STS kit and am making a cool 440 at 9psi. I installed it myself on a friends lift and in 8 hours with limited tools.

I wound up running into so many problems that I sold the kit after purchasing all the newer parts for it. I'm happy to say the person I sold it to made 450 rwhp on a stock fuel pump!!! And is very happy with this kit. I agree that the kit has a few flaws in the design, but I think it came down to the fact that I could not find anyone to properly tune my car.

Garbage. Rusty pipes. No knowledge of their own kits and nothing but excuses of why it was someone else's fault. Personally I would rather by an ebay turbo kit than use an STS kit again. How it didn't blow my motor from throwing rust into the block is beyond me. Oh and countless other problems. I know it's because I had the 2nd kit sold for the 370 but still. They did try to help but when they gave up on the kit, it just showed it was for a quick buck and nothing more.

Bro we made 515 on the stock pump...just couldn't sustain it
