I have noticed there is not a " Engine Drop/Removal" DYI on the forum. I'm about to do this when the GTM kit is released and just curious.
I'm pretty sure it drops from under the car, right?

thats because unless you have a lift, you aren't dropping the engine. I've seen the engine removed both ways though, the most common is dropping the front subframe. you can also remove the radiator support and pull the engine out the front. or just leave the engine in for the install depending on the kit

I have access to a car lift, etc for free. I was just wondering what the easiest way of removing the engine on a Z would be....at the same time we may just leave it in and try to do the install like that. At the same time it's always good to have options.:tiphat:

Updated.
Thanks for the info, definitely a lot of options for build motors.

AlexRaymond19 05-06-2013 06:50 AM

So what all do you need to do for the stroker kit? Just install the parts? What kind of HP are you looking at with no FI?

theDreamer 10-04-2013 09:27 AM

Items I have added to the list today:
-Mishimotor Radiator
-GTM High Capacity Oil Pan
-Uprev
-GTM Fan Shroud kit

If anyone would like to help on writing out the description or details for the following it would help:
-Uprev (Yes I added it but my details are a bit vague)
-ECU-tek
-HKS F-CON
-Traction Control (Either GTM versions or the general Race Logic one)

Any additional products I am missing that have come out recently, please share with links to product page and any other information.

So has noone tried building this car NA? Or was it tried and found to not be worth the money? Just curious really. I want FI after my stay here in Germany but ivery always been more impressed by reading about other people's NA builds.

I believe the person that did try to go all motor is selling or stopped.

To go all motor is expensive and you won't make the HP a boosted VQ will make. Around 400s I believe.

Right, I know FI produces bigger numbers... I was just curious cut I havent seen one single NA build. Even in the rx community there in a substantial amount of relatively high (300-350) hp NA cars. I just find it interesting... but I also haven't done quite as much research on this car as I did my 2 rotaries... well regardless, awesome thread keep it up!

1slow370 didn't build the motor, but he went pretty nuts on his build. A lot of one off parts, probably $15-20k into it and made..............~370whp. On E85. That's a lot of work to get to 375whp or so.

Still a badass car

Absolutely, but the dollar per hp ratio is way out of whack.

ARP main studs, which ones do I order? In their catalog they have vq35 and vr38. No vq37. Im assuming the mains are the same in the vq35. Anyone know?
