So you actually grabbed traction with the 4.08? Are you supercharged?

bumping this old thread instead of asking the same question. any other z boosted fanatics with 4.08 gears?

Optimiser 12-08-2015 12:33 AM

I am just about to have my Supercharger finished with 4.08 gears wth CUSCO 1.5x LSD.
I'm hoping it'll be OK with about 400 RW HP. :driving:

I will have a similar setup with the MT 3.69 gears that are currently on my 7AT and soon to be FI TT. Maybe I can find the right combination with my gears and boost level if not I can just swap back the 3.32 gears on my auto.

Any update on the 4.08 and SC?

shadow85 07-14-2017 09:49 PM

I am going AAM TT. After reading this thread I guess not to bother going 4.08 gears yeah? Probably better off just upgrading the stock VLSD.

After TopGunz air to air supercharger upgrade and new pulleys I'm at about 450WHP with the 4.08's and new sticky Yokohama Advan tires and new MCA (red) suspension upgrade. Yes the car is mad in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. It really is a better setup for the track than the street as it's just too easy to spin the wheels in 1st/2nd. However once you get going it really pulls. V8 utes, V8 M3 BMW's, turbo AMG Mercs and V6 twin turbo Alfa Giulias can't keep up! but I'm talking about 3rd gear runs.
I will always remember the facial expression of the dude in the Alfa Guila that couldn't pass me! (3rd and 4th gear) It was like "this can't be right":owned:
The Alfa has a little more power than me and a bit heavier (about 20hp at the crank and about 150Kg heavier) but it's my 4.08's that did the trick there I believe.

This is exactly why i wen't with a 3.3 geard quaife diff from z1, im running r888's so when the time comes to put my kit on with soho tuning it. I'm hoping to the tire angels and can get some kind of grab out of first.

May i ask why AAM and not fast intentions? also look into 3.3 gears if you are trying to keep as much traction in the beggining gears, that's what i went with.

Simple, AAM offers RHD kits where as FI does not.

I am in Australia :)
