GTM Performance Engineering: Stage 2 Twin Turbo V2 w/GTX Turbos - CARB app submitted

With all that we have learned about the CARB approval process in our experience with our Supercharger Kit, and the fact that our Twin Turbo kit for the VQ35HR got TUV approval in Germany (their CARB equivalent), we believe we have an excellent chance of getting our Twin Turbo Kit 50 State Legal.

The CARB legal version of our Twin Turbo kit will share many of the characteristics of our original kits as well as a new element: Garrett GTX2863R Turbos. These new turbos are an excellent all around performer and will be offered with the .86 A/R exhaust housing only. The GTX series spools up quicker than the older turbos and has better boost response in addition to having a broader operating envelope thanks to the advanced aero that the 5-axis milled compressors afford. This gives the end user an excellent turbo that is well matched to the breathing characteristics of the VQ37. This will or course be our Turn-Key kit and will come with fuel system and engine management upgrades.

This is very exciting news and we know that we are being very ambitious and honestly there is no guarantee whether or not we'll be able to achieve this enormous goal. We do think we have a very good shot at it. If you don't try, you never know.

Uh oh...CARB legel TT kit.

Good luck, I truley hope this happens. The more CARB legal power options we have the better. I have to deal with a variety of CARB regulations with my work and those guys don't take logic into account for anything.

So true, even the head of the CARB board admitted that certain barred modifications lead to greater efficiency and decreased emissions. Plus, they give preferential treatment in the approval process to certain aftermarket companies.

The best of luck Sam, does this mean the stock cats will be retained?

Wow ... that would change everything...

sub'd.. would existing kits be able to "convert" to a carb legal setup? Will the GTX turbines fit the existing kit, ie: can I keep my exh. housing and bolt on a GTX2863R to it?

Nixlimited 01-17-2012 07:27 PM

Any update on the SC app? I think that was submitted more than a year ago.

Yes, you can convert it. The GTX is sold without a turbine housing and any GT28 turbine housing will bolt up to the GTX CHRA. So, yes, you can keep your coated turbine housings.

PM en route.

Lol...yes, we're extremely close.

Ron 01-17-2012 07:45 PM

I knew they were sold without the housing thanks for confirming they will fit the existing kit... This is good I'll reply to your pm.
