if you buy a prepackaged engine built then usualyl do that. this looks like they disassembled his motor and rebuilt it.

i am sure that they would allow you to do it either way.... core exchange or reuse core. just keep in mind that machine shops are generally slow turn-around... so if you send them your core, it could take several weeks before they get it back... and it could take a week or two before they have the time to start building it once its back. so your overall down time will be much greater.

with the VHR engine, I would only be concerned about keeping my core with the cylinder heads, personally. that is my plan. I have an entire spare VHR long block, but i will only be using the block casting and crank for my build. I will reuse my cars cylinder heads. Also, I like the idea of keeping my OEM core 100% intact and reuseable should i ever want to put it back in the car or if I blow up my built engine and want to put it stock and ditch the project LOL

Thanks Charles!

The head studs do cross over. The main studs are different though. We opted for the Cosworth head gaskets on this one.

thanks! i appreciate the info. now i know i can collect some gaskets and head studs at any time with off-the-shelf parts and not have to worry about any custom orders or even pay attention to the stock stuff when i tear it out.

so are the VHR headgaskets the same as HR headgaskets?

I wonder if the HR/VHR oil pumps can hold up at 8000rpm unlike the DE timebombs.

Well at least we know what to get you for Christmas.

The wheels are nice. I like seeing people do bold things on a car...

Nice build...

with a 700 hp G37 it would still be hot if the wheels were hot pink
