I have been thinking about a Stillen supercharger installed by myself then taking it to Z1 for the tune. Cheapest way out that I have found so far.

STs rear mount turbo

XwChriswX 08-12-2011 03:45 AM

Damn, I was hoping the 'electric supercharger' would bust into flames or something... :(

edub370 08-12-2011 08:15 AM

the sts turbo system definately peeked my interest. install doesn't look like anything too crazy either

rear mount turbo best bang for the buck. gas milage, sound, power, easy install. the 350z was a breeze and it sounded bad ***.

i wonder why not many people go with this rear mount turbo setup

tonybui 08-12-2011 10:23 AM

Lag, nonoptimal design, excessive piping runs that cause heat droppoff/less power, oiling issues, turbo/piping exposure, intake located under car, weight, theft risk, etc

If your looking to save some money, your best bet is to wait it out until somebody sells their kit privately. Most likely save a couple thousand on the kit and still have a quality product.....or go the electric supercharger route!

Because it's ugly? That pipe hanging down from the rear valence kills me.

:icon14: heat dropoff would create more power wouldn't it? i mean lowere ambient inlet temps tend to always equal more power. I figure that cool charge would offset the lag becasue a cooler denser charge can run thru piping quicker

Heat dropped before turbo= less pressure. The piping running to the front is fine, it's the stuff running back that kills you
