Solved! Greddy Twin Turbo oil temps 220 on track

After a lot of money, blood, sweat and tears it looks like we have the oil temp issue managed. On a very hot 98deg day in Nashville we put the new cooling system to the test. I was able to run the entire 15gal fuel cell out without any drama. I have no doubt we will be able to manage up to 500whp on track with this system.

NASCAR heat exchange radiator
NASCAR air to oil cool
Remote oil filter
-10 oil lines
Custom fab shroud
Modified cooler arrangement
Modified bumper cover
14 quarts of oil !!!

This is the coolest the car has ever run. The Z sustained 260 oil temps before the turbos with 2 coolers, and limp mode with one. We knew going in that the biggest challenge for the Greddys would be the oil cooling. So this a huge step forward. Back to the fun stuff... Easing the boost up and sorting the chassis.

14 quarts? That's almost three times the stock amount. Congrats on the "cool" setup.

I wonder how much difference the temps would have been if they were water cooled as well. Love to see some pictures my friend.

I am at the point where I will need to work on keeping the oil cool. I would love more details. Thanks for donating "a lot of money, blood, sweat and tears " for this. All eyes are on you my friend. Keep up the good work. I too would love pictures.
Thanks

We are cleaning up the install a little now, I,ll post some as is pics in the AM. My GFs on my *** now...

Also working on a solution for the street and light track use cars with AC. Should be a more DYI application. Will not offer quite the same level of performance as the full race set up, but allow the use of the factory condenser and radiator. For half the cost.

nice jay, this similar to bryan's black 350z setup?

Hey Patrick... I'm not familliar with his system. Maybe we can catch up at CMP or VIR in the next few weeks... You can get some good shoots of what we have going on. We are looking at how we are going to package this up now, to take all the guessing out of it. And... I still want to do a test at 10-11 psi boost. May still want to step the radiator up, before I would put my name on it!

HKYStormFront 06-29-2010 08:46 PM

still waiting to see the results from jeff from the Rd ATL shoot a few weeks ago... :)

Are you using an Accusump to get that extra oil in the system? If not how did you increase capacity by so much?

thanks

Sounds like a very interesting setup Jay. After being part of the development of an aftermarket cooling system, and having watched a radiator install for this vehicle (thanks Kyle at Stillen), I have a couple questions out of curiosity...

1)How thick is your radiator? Nascar... I'm thinking 4 rows... If that's the case it must be pretty close to the vertical bar thats attached to the core support?

2)With the custom fan shroud... did you still attach it to the core support from the top? Did you move the shroud back towards the engine side at all?

I am also very interested to see some pictures. Sounds like a very nice setup...Congrats

wonder if it wouldve been better to do a new/add a radiator and install a laminar type water to oil cooler?

Here's a few pics... we just have it roughed in for testing. We are fabricating an aluminum core support to better secure all the goodies. As well as ducting.

LiquidZ 06-30-2010 07:42 AM

I would just like to say a Top Fuel dragster uses 16 quarts of oil.

Moar pics! :hello:

jayfightmoves 07-12-2010 11:01 AM

Update at 520whp..... still running around 220 oil temps. The car ran great still a lot of sorting to do, but this issue in the bag!

Supergoji 07-12-2010 11:22 PM

all because of the vvel....
