If I could afford a gt3, you guys would never see my ass again :rofl2:

R8's and GT3's have some things that are incredibly difficult to add aftermarket, such as dry-sump lubrication and hell the GT3 even has electronically controlled engine mounts. A supercharged Z will be fun, but it will never be as refined as the other cars you've listed. Granted that may not matter if you're looking for a pure track car.

R8 spyder here

All in due time my friend all in due time

Zele Japan may even come on board with the build... *fingers crossed*

We will post a full build thread as the build gets closer to completion.

I would keep the Z unless I could pay cash for the other cars on the list..
If you can, I'd get this one!

if i have money i will keep the Z and tune it and Buy GT-3 too

but if you can buy R8 or GT3 in cash then go for it and remember we live this life only one time .
but how much it cost to tune the 370z ??

We work on a lot of Porsches and a some R8's and yes the Porsches are amazing for the track and supremely fast in the right hands. The big thing that you should consider is maintenance costs. It will easily cost you twice as much to maintain a Porsche compared to almost anything else, and imagine if you smack it up. I have a customer that has mildly modded 996 GT3 and he put it in the wall. The total cost to repair is $16000 so far.

I say drop the 15k into a TT, get all the ALL the 'safe mods', and hoard cash. As you mentioned earlier, it would be tragic to wreck the R8 or GT3 on the track. Not so much with the Z. If you feel you want to upgrade after a few years of hoarding cash, then upgrade (to the GT3!!!!).

While not in the same financial situation as you, I went with the Z over the Exige S because I would be devastated if I wrecked it at the track, and I can hoard money and wait for some nice investments or pick up that second home somewhere. Heck, my wife is from the Bahamas; maybe I will build a house there to vacation at in the summer.

Do something like that; once established there, hook up the GT3!

+1. You're young and in a GREAT position to build a solid base of wealth... And by TT'ing the Z it's not like you're missing out on any fun.

I absolutely love Porsche but they are not faster than the R8 as proven by many automotive tests. If I bought a Porsche it would be because I just really like Porsche and not because I wanted the fastest car. They are difficult to drive and if you can drive one fast you get some props for sure. I would take the R8 or GT-R myself because you can not beat the price/performance of the GT-R but the R8 is beast. Get the v10 R8 though hehe. I wouldn't build the 370z for track because of all the problems that would be associated with it, I would take one from the factory that is simply a beast and has factory track options such as carbon ceramic brakes etc. That way you won't have to make crappy looking ducts to the brakes to help cool no matter what you do along with the ABS and fuel starvation issues. The vehicle wouldn't even be a DD vehicle anymore.

Got TT definatly fast. Making c5 z06 to shame.
I can say TT z will hold or pull on gt3

^ BASTARD lol ;-)

mrcardio 05-31-2010 05:24 PM

If you're only interested in putting down super car numbers and could careless about the actual experience of course they’re cheaper ways of doing this.

No Porsche is faster than an R8?

I'm pretty sure the Porsche GT2/ RS will rip the R8 a new one.

Carrera GT? No problem

The New 911 Turbo is quicker in a straight line and probably around track but there hasn't been enough test to actually prove anything yet.

Regardless, the Audi R8 isn't faster than any Porsche.

The Nissan GT-R? It recently lost to the new Porsche 911 Turbo in a Road & Track comparison. Not because of it's "numbers" but because it's a far better "drivers car". And yes, they took price into account.

Track numbers don't tell the full story.

That's funny that you mentioned that, we actually are about to get another customer from Florida bring his car out here to us and stay for about a 3 week vacation here is sunny San Diego while we install his complete new race built motor, twin turbo kit, brakes, and suspension.

Having customers cars shipped here to us for full builds and track prepping is something we do all the time. A majority of our customers are from out of state. We have customers from as far away as Canada, Tennessee, Florida, New York, etc that have shipped us their cars to have various work done, including quite a few complete track/ race car transformations. We have built more track dominating beastly Z's than anybody else in the country, including the winning-est time attack 350Z and also the nations fastest and winning-est track prepped time attack G35. These cars make very light work of both the R8 and the GT3 that you speak of, LOL

Although I can see the pro's and con's to both.... transforming your Z into a more track worthy car, or just buying a more out of the box capable car. It is a tough choice and all comes down to what YOU wanna do....
